Playing my first 200-300 point game this weekend.

I have a few DUST, AT-43, and Reaper Chronoscope miniatures to draw from as well as....

a Deathwing army (45 terminators), Rhino/Razorback, x2 Dreadnaughts,

Tau Army, crisis suits, hovertanks, fire warriors, pathfinders

Eldar, wraithguard, wraithlords, war walker, vipers, guardians, dire avengers

SM army ~50 tac/dev/assault varieties. Scouts x10

IG - ~30 stormtroopers, guardsmen, starship trooper infantry models

I am anticipating pulling models from all of my armies to build my force.

Obviously the color scheme is a non-issue.

I am undecided on a faction but am leaning towards PO.

My real question is this... Using my pool of minis, what minis are the closest analogue to the Infinity miniatures?

My buddy and I are both learning but, I want to generally be able to point to say a fire warrior and say, "that's a fusilier with a spike rifle or whatever".

Captain Killhammer McFighterson stared down at the surface of Earth from his high vantage point on the bridge of Starship Facemelter. Something ominous was looming on the surface. He could see a great shadow looming just underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, slowly spreading northward. "That can't be good..." he muttered to himself while rubbing the super manly stubble on his chin with one hand. "But... on the other hand..." he looked at his shiny new bionic murder-arm. "This could be the perfect chance for that promotion." A perfect roundhouse kick slammed the ship's throttle into full gear. Soon orange jets of superheated plasma were visible from the space-windshield as Facemelter reentered the atmosphere at breakneck speed.

Ig. 40k minis are too big really, best way is just starter box and 150 points. Plenty of rules to learn in that alone to keep you busy. Play testing factions is a bit useless in infinity IMO since you pick what you want to model since nothing is really OP.

The chronoscape models are pretty comparable, kinda. I'm using the imef and nova corp models as different PanO.

Tau aesthetic actually fits pretty well into the Infinity universe in my opinion (eldar is close too). GW sculpts are "chunky" 28 mm and Infinity is "true scale" 28 mm though, so hands/weapons/heads won't look the right size.

If you're just wanting to learn the rules then throw whatever you want on the table until you're comfortable enough to want to buy the official models. I can't count how many times I have played intro Warmachine games using 40k models, and that is a much more precise game about spacing and base sizes than Infinity. Fractions of an inch really don't matter with learning games.

Heck, infinity measures from center of the miniature anyway so base size only matters for close combat or template weapons.

Okay the beginning games have come and gone.

Pan Oceania

Three ORCs - all MULTI rifles - one was the LT
Trauma Doc - Combi-rifle
Machinist - Combi-rifle
One Kamau with an HMG
One Fusilier with a missile launcher

200 pts

The ORCs were represented by DUST Tactics figures the "Grim Reapers"

Trauma-Doc was the metal IG medic from 40K

Machinist was a metal Catchatan model. The one carrying a demo charge.

Kamau was the gatling gunner from the Reaper Minis line.

Fusilier was a Starship Troopers model with missile launcher.

Three games played.

I won all three games.

During the first two games we were playing ARO incorrectly. I was under the impression you had to be within the zone of control to ARO. Turns out that you can ARO as long as you have LOF.

There were a lot of stops and starts about how to figure cover. Hope this is cleared up in 3rd.

In the third game AROs were taking their toll. Until someone mentioned that I could Dodge if I was moving when the ARO went off.

It came down to the last man on the last game and I took it with a coup de grace.
