Well I FINALLY dusted off the paint brushes and all my paint, and after literally dusting them off, had to replace brushes and some paints and such. Its been SO long since I painted anything (a year or so? maybe more) I decided since Im really going to jump into EFT I need to shake the rust off my paint'n hand and get to work. I pretty much finished the Dark priest in 2 sittings, I just couldnt stop painting the guy, its such a cool miniature and the paint seems to go on these minis well enough, even with my dirt cheap Americana paints they are looking rather nice.

Im not a fan of how the back side of the mini turned out, so I MAY go back and redue it again as well as the tombstone on the base. Im half unsure whether to keep it as is, or just go with the tried and true grey stone look. And obviously the risen warrior isnt finished either but I wanted to toss up some progress shots. Ive never done the bronze this way before, let alone adding some corrosion on it as well. Im really digging the outcome though. Enjoy lads and ladies!

Awesome work so far, the tombstone is a great basing idea.

Well thank ya sir!

This morning I did a bunch more work to the Risen Warrior. It's nearly finished actually, I just need to do his belt, the arrow arrows and his base, which the base will take probably 5 minutes total. So I'm thinking tomorrow you lot will see some sexy evil skeleton action

Till then

The Dark Priest looks great, I really dig the purple with the more neutral tones. The little bit of linework on all the wrappings/outfit make the geometric look of everything really stand out.

The tombstone is a lot of fun, but a little bright. Maybe do something to weather it down a bit? Otherwise the whole thing is rather excellent.

Thanks CC! I'll certainly take the compliments. I agree on the tombstone though, it is a bit bright. I'll admit it was my first try doing a marble technique that Nerdfest laid out sometime ago. It looks really good zoomed in, you can actually see the marble effect, but I do think next time I should start off darker than I did, because at the end of getting it all together, you white wash the whole piece that is marble, so it made my attempt quite a bit lighter that I intended.

Oh well, next time I'm sure, because it really wasn't hard to do once I got the method down and it looks so cool to boot! I think tomorrow I'll finish the Risen Warrior off and post him up. After that Im not sure what to paint. I have a squire, some Gunsmiths and 2 different Earth Trolls to do. Who wants what done next??

If you keep mentioning Trolls it'll summoin RITides into the thread.

I like the Squire model personally, it looks like fun to paint. So that gets my vote. But in reality it should be whatever is inspiring you to paint next!

RiTides isnt so scary once you understand that throwing a fuzzy ball away from yourself causes him to run and fetch

I did some work today as promised, and finished the Risen Warrior! It looks rather nice I think, nice enough anyways. So without further adieu.....

Risen Warrior

As always, my minis are painted using cheap ol Americana paint, which comes with its own difficulties as far as techniques go using it, but Im a cheap ass and cant see spending 4x as much for a 1/2 the paint. It works well enough though I think. Also, here he is next to the Dark Priest

Two peas in a pod I think I might actually paint the Squire next, because I too think its a cool ass sculpt and Im not sure how I want to paint the Gunsmiths as well as the trolls.....those big guys might take some head scratching because I want to really take my time on those fellas! Anywho, enjoy everyone. C&C is always welcome.

That risen warrior is tip top my Michigan nemesis

Love the bone, the fletchings, and the old armor.

You did that red just to spite me.

I'm jesting, it looks excellent. I love how you did the different colored fletching on the arrows sticking out of him. And the fading of the bone looks great. The armor is weathered and rusted damn well, but it gives a slight contrast with how bright and clean the cloth is. Not that I mind, I think the whole thing looks wonderful.

From the boss himself! Thanks for the compliments

Rust/weathering was something I stumbled on early in my painting career, it just took many years for the rest of my ability to catch up

Well I fixed based and primed a gunsmith today. I decided since I have so many smiths and only one squire, ill do a Smith next instead. Didn't take a picture yet but I'm thinking tomorrow I'll do a bit of painting and then add some eye candy then

Cheers!

Looking forward to it! I should have an order going out next week. Till then I have some Gears that just came in to work on. I'm on the fence about the Gunsmith, so it'll be nice to see what you do with him.

Ha! Me too..... Its a cool looking mini, specially with the super simple gun alteration I did. Though I'm on the fence as to how the hell I'm going to paint him exactly. I'm thinking a mix of cowboy and early American colonial military dress. Possibility. Maybe

So I played an objective based 5 crystal game with my son. He learned the hard way to play the objectives to win. He was WAY past me in points then got greedy and tried killing my team. Bad guys won the day next time he said he's just running away with his thief until the match is over

Ha ha, It's great to hear your whole family is enjoying it, and even greater to hear your son strategizing between games!

It is fun playing with my family for sure, and I try to teach my son that if and when you fail at something, you only really fail if you didn't learn from it. I think next time he's going to kick my butt again like last time

On that note, today I put brush to paint. I've got an idea I'm going to try. I hope it works because it's far from my comfort zone
