Hey guys, I know I'm not the first one with an incarnation of a Daemon Summon list, but I do feel this list has merit. It starts off with 36+D6 mastery levels, has 3 dedicated summoners and 10 or 16(if you count the Razorbacks) Objective Secured scoring units.

Plan: All the Daemons start on the Skyshield Landing Pad for the 4++ invul vs shooting and 4+ cover save. 1 Herald of Tzeentch joined to each(well 3 of the 4) units of 11 Pink Horrors. Be'Lakor is there to provide shrouding to all units. The grim goes on Be'Lakor. I will most likely have at least one 'Scorched Earth' as well to give all my Daemons a 3++. This makes for all of them having either a 2+ cover save re-rolling 1s or a 3+ invulnerable save re-rolling 1s. Then turn 1 they start summoning right way. I can throw up to 12 dice at each attempt if I really want to.

The GKs will stay as far away from threats as much as possible, and I will use my endless waves of Daemonettes to tie up anything that comes for them. They are my power conduits.

Haha, yeah, it definitely isn't the most fluffy list. I would probably be spawning Daemonettes and running them at the enemy without worrying about losing them. Or I could pool them up for 2-3 turns and then run at him with a huge wave of units supported by a shrouding Be'Lakor etc.

Looks good, though are you sure coteaz is mastery lvl 1 and not 2 (normal dudes are lvl1 it makes sense the big dude is lvl2)?

You dont actually need two daemon detachments as you can take up to 4 heralds as one choice. Maybe find some points for antiair.

Yeah, this layout is just so I don't have to make my Chaos Daemons detachment my primary. Warp Storm would nuke my GKs lol

The way I understand it, your primary is the one that contains your warlord. It has nothing to do with size or leadership or even being a character.

Ah is it that only a primary detachment gets four heralds. Interesting, I guess until faq'd that still stands..

Heralds may only be taken in a Primary Detachment.
"Each primary detachment in your army may include up to four Heralds of Chaos...."
No non-primary Heralds!

Compare this to the wording on SM Honour Guard, which entry also happens to be listed in HQ: "You may take one Honour Guard for each Chapter Master....."

Just because something is listed in a place in your codex doesn't mean that you can always take it. There are sometimes requirements to fulfill.
In the Daemon case, the requirement is that Daemons is your primary detachment.

I like it. If you compare it to my Daemon Factory list (just because we're trying to achieve the same thing, I do with a big unit of 10 Farseers including Eldrad and a Spirit stone, loads of runes and some Warlocks all in a bastion) then I think I'm a bad match up for you. I have more summoning power, and far more anti-psyker even though I only have 35+d6 WC.

Having said that my list is a one trick pony and with HPs now on Bastions my lust needs first turn against most decent gun lines. Those 70point battery units are great and your whole army is battleforged (are you allowed multiple CADs from different factions?) You have lots of scoring and decent firepower plus a very strong core (just pray for no D weapons as one 6 kills your army). You also have lots of access to Santic which gives you more benefits. So over all I think it is really strong, nothing I would change.

The GK Detachment, which is Combined Arms, contains your Warlord. This means that "If you organise your army using the Battle-forged method, whichever Detachment contains your Warlord is your Primary Detachment."
So GK is your Primary Detachment. Daemons are also Combined Arms detachments, but are definitely NOT a primary detachment.

Therefore, you may not take Heralds.
Make one of the Daemon things your Warlord, and now you can take Heralds. However, you may only take up to Four Heralds, and only in that single Primary-Combined Arms detachment.
Just stuff all three into the one Detachment, make one of them your Warlord, and put Belly in the other.
Be'lakor cannot be your Warlord, because then his detachment would the Primary, and then you'd have the same problem again.
Just stuff all the Daemons into one CAD.

As I have said before, I made my GKs the primary for a reason. That reason being, I don't want to have Warp Storm. You can take heralds in other detachments then your primary. You can't however take more than 1 herald per HQ slot if you choose to do so. Hence why I have 2 Chaos Daemons Combined Arms Detachments.

Please quote rules for why you believe this. I have already quoted rules and given an parallel example to show why this is illegal.

The Daemon book quite clearly and simply states that "Each primary detachment in your army may include up to four Heralds...." Heralds are only for the Primary detachment, as no permission is given to take them in any other type of detachment.

He's absolutely correct I've read and reread it but yeah there is no way to get more than 4 Heralds in a army without going unbound. Which means I have to redo that stupid Daemon army I wrote.

It's even more restrictive than that. There's no permission to take Heralds at all unless Daemons is your Primary Detachment. Once you are Battle-Forged, and Daemons is your Primary, you may only ever take a maximum of four Heralds, since you may only have one Primary Detachment.

If you go Unbound...then you just need a Daemon model as an HQ, which makes Daemons your Primary, which means you may take up to four Heralds. STILL no permission to take more than four Heralds.

So four Heralds is the maximum amount you are ever legally allowed to include in an army. And if you want ANY Heralds, then you'll be rolling on the Warp Storm Table.

Nah in Unbound I can take a squad of 3 Honourguard and 24 Heralds with no other models if I have them in my collection. That's kind of the point of unbound.

Whether you can take any Heralds in a non-primary detachment is debatable and there are RaW arguments both ways and I rarely see anyone play that that very narrow reading. Either way here's probably not the best place for the discussion lets just assume his group are ok with it and discuss his actual list.

With the new edition, 'Friendly' models are all that you own on the table. 'Enemy' models are those owned by your opponent. There is no more nuking of your allies with the Warp Storm.

Allies of Convenience disagrees with the statement that all your models are friendly.

I stand corrected. I had seen the section in the general rules section that said all models on your side are 'friendly'.

You actually can take Heralds in any detachment as long as it's one per HQ slot. The issue isn't that we need to post a rule reference for this (as it's the rule for all HQ units) but rather that he forgot to supply the context of the line he quoted.

The line "Each primary detachment in your army may include up to four heralds" is not listed as a rule in the codex, but as an HQ entry called "Heralds of Chaos". The rule only applies if you select "Heralds of Chaos" as your HQ (you would get four Heralds as a single HQ slot).

Since you can always choose to select the Herald of Tzeentch as your HQ slot instead, you're not applying the rule governed by "Heralds of Chaos" because the "Heralds of Chaos" is not your HQ choice. Herald of Tzeentch on the other hand is its own independent HQ entry that may be freely selected any time you are filling an HQ slot.

Agreed. I cant believe anyone is arguing against this. Its almost as if people dont want people to spam heralds.
