Anyone noticed this? I couldn't find it.

Does this mean the only requirement for a unit to get a warlord trait is that he be a character and chosen as your warlord?

thus, can a tank commander/bjorn always be your warlord?

The character requirement is also gone. A warlord that isn't a character just doesn't get a warlord trait (though obviously non-character warlords, like tank commanders, that explicitly get warlord traits are an exception to the rule).

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

If that doesn't get FAQ'ed, then that would make Harath Shen and Brayarth Ashmantle much more attractive picks.

BRB 124: "Unless specified otherwise, this must be a character model." In bold, second sentence on the page.

I don't know anything yet that specifies otherwise, so your Warlord needs to be a character.

so i can have a c'tan shard since it is a character but not an HQ choice?

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

The very next sentence allows non-characters to be your Warlord, but only if you don't have any Character models at all.

That will be very rare, at least. An army of Defilers and Soul Grinders would need the exception, I suppose.

I have a scarier proposition, justicar thawn from the grey knights as a warlord. Goodluck getting slay the warlord- that is still an objective, right?

Gealgain,
It depends on the mission we are playing, but the original six are still there and the additional six appear to have it as a Secondary Objective as well.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The... I want to call it 'unglued' Army option does appear to be a little easy to break:

Deck out a Far-sight Enclave riptide with survival gear, make it your Warlord in a 2000 point Army of Riptides.
Landraider as a warlord would be an interesting one, Choas have a lot of large vehicles that could ensure a characterless army.
A Massive Structure with AV 15 all around would be nice, do we get to include Fortifications on that list of choices?
Or what about a Lord of War choice as warlord?

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

A riptide? An r'varna, dude!

T7 with 6 wounds on a 2+4++, access to FNP... it's unkillable at range and almost untouchable up close.

O'vesa? O'varna, amiright?!

It also means that O'vesa can be your warlord while you're running farsight, as a note.

Actually Kel, Tank Commanders are TANKS.

Ahem. But yes. I noticed this discrepancy too.

In order to get O'vesa in a battle forged army, you still need Farsight to be your warlord. Unbound on the other hand, you don't need Farsight.

As per the Tank Commander rule:

"The Tank Commander's Tank is a Character"

Yes it's a tank. It's also a character.

You just need farsight to get O'vesa. the 8 replaces farsight's standard bodyguard unit, that's the only reason you must take farsight.

I thought the FE FAQ/Errata changed it to requiring him to be your Warlord?

It is the case, the reason why I was more interested in the R'Varna and how that will make people cry if you make lists designed to promote it to Warlord.

Did you seriously just mis-attribute what YOU said to me?

Seriously You wrote what you quoted.

Also Tank Commanders are Vehicle(Tank, Heavy, Character) so along with whatever mess you just made of yourself, you were also wrong.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
