I have not got access to 7th Ed - but do Flickerfields (or similar invulnerable saves) protect their passengers against template weapons attacking their passengers...........

Why would they ever? It's like asking "If my Spehs marheen captain has a storm shield, does my scout marine buddy who just happens to be in the same squad get the 3++?"

Because they protect every other part of the vehicle but somehow shut out the passengers?

Second if a Captain was in front of the Scout - he would get the 3++ save wouldn't he?

No; flickerfields only apply to damage that the vehicle sustains.

I am wondering how the passengers are even getting hit, unless there was some major change to how templates work...?

Passengers in open topped transports now take d6 hits if their vehicle is hit by a template weapon.

For added thrill value any casualties are randomly assigned

So DE, oraks and to an extent Necrons got hit hard here.

We're also hoping that flickerfields might be FAQed to perhaps also protect the passengers.

General Hits, or Hits using the Weapons Template?
Could be at least somewhat of a silver lining if they are simply General Hits, that way AP 2 weapons are not going to ruin any assault based Army for good.

Only templates (read: flamers etc). At the str and AP of the weapon.

As written flicker fields only protect the transport but it might get re-written or FAQd.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it.
