Been Around the Block

Good day

I haven't played WHFB since 1st edition, but recently had a massive bout of nostalgia when playing the Warsword Mod for Mount & Blade.

The last WHFB books I read were the Konrad series and Gotrek's first few adventures so I'm asking for recommendations for really good, meaty non-cheesy novels set in the Fantasy universe.

Any suggestions?

Although not a series, Archaon: Everchosen is really good.

I really enjoyed the Ulrika the vampire series. So much so that I based my Vampire Counts and Empire armies on them.

Wowzers, going through Goodreads lists, there's really not a lot of WHFB books out there is there?

Any of the Time of Legends books are great - epic tales, good characters and plenty to enjoy.

I am also a Vamprie fan so the Ulrika, Neferata and Genevieve series I really enjoyed.

I've not read many WFB books, but one series I really did like is the Brerttonnian Knight series. I think it goes Knight Errant, Knight of the Realm, Questing Knight and Grail Knight. There was an omnibus but that's not on the BL site, might be on amazing though. It gives a good look at the darker side of Brettonnian culture and has some awesome swording.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, but also not wanting to start a new thread for the exact same subject pretty much - are there any novels about Lizardmen?

Thanks.

I don't know if there are any that focus solely on lizardmen, but I'm pretty sure that one or the Gotrek and Felix ones is set in Lustria. Same for the second Tyrion and Teclis novel.

I liked all the Time of Legends series. Can't wait for the 3rd part of the War of Vengeance series (or War of the Beard for you namby-pamby Elf types) and read about the High Elves getting knocked down a peg and sent back to their island! And the climactic duel between the Starbreaker and the Phoenix king.

Aside from that, it's neat how almost all of the early history of the Warhammer World is linked.

Temple of the Serpent . Part of the Thanquol series, he's sent on a mission to kill the Prophet of Sotek. It's a human/skaven/lizard men tale. It's by CL Werner, so the body count is satisfyingly high.

Burning Shore. An expedition from the Old World goes to Lustria. It mainly focuses on 2 characters of Bretonnian origin (not knights), but this novel is notable for having a few parts from the Lizardmens perspective, how they think and perceive outsiders.

Those two are parts of series, but still easily accessible. I really wish both of those series would continue.

Tomb of the Golden Idol. A dwarf expedition goes to Lustria to search for the shiny things Dwarves like. It's a 2 part short story. Never read it, but plan to .

Just a heads up : there next to SFA lizardman stuff in the 2nd Tyrion & teclis book, all in the first couple of chapters and that's it.

is available in eformat, or you might be able to track it down on Ebay/wherever.

Omnibus is also OOP but might be worth keeping an eye out for.

http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/temple-of-the-serpent-ebook.html

also features them .

That's book 2 of 3 , although one could easily read it without the previous one IMO. Characters of course come from the Gotrek abd Felix series.

Fair enough about the T&T book, I only read the preview in Blood of Aenarion.
