Thoughts on this idea since independent characters can join characters to forge a super group?
Mephiston trading his powers for biomancy joined by three Sanquinary priests, all with power fists and jump packs.
Assume Mephy's rules stay the same as in 6th (only trading for two powers) there's basically nothing bad in the list. Iron arm makes the unit near-unkillable, and all the priests are S10 AP2. Mephiston can become T8 with FNP and even if you roll for something lackluster you still have the ability for Mephiston to cast smite and fire his plasma pistol for a whole bunch of AP2 shots.
If you get a challenge against something sub-optimal (like termies) you simply accept the challenge with a priest.

Well for the first turn mephy wont have his jump pack and will be moving very slowly. Also remember that if he trades for biomancy he loses his jump pack.
Also with three in the unit the majority toughness will still be 4 so not much help there.
All in all it feels very lackluster and cant do everything you want it to at once.
People who stopped buying GW but wont stop bitching about it are the vegans of warhammer
I love this idea, even if it's not actually a good one. You could take corbulo, a few normal priests and maybe a chaplain and join all of them to mephiston, and then put the unit in a landraider...

That's the spirit! Hey, I know it's not competitive -- but for weird relaxed games I want to see what happens.
Is this a wish list for the new codex to come or what, Meph still isn't an IC, but an unique character, therefore he still can't join or be joined by other characters.
Meph rides alone, maybe it will change, but that is music for the future, otherwise this post is very confusing and false.

That's not actually a rule.
There's nothing preventing an IC from joining him.
He can't join anything, but IC's can join him.

Great, can you post the rule and page that states independent characters can't join unique characters? Then we can lock this thread and go home.
That is, assuming you haven't totally made it up and posted for no reason at all?

I'm starting to wonder if people actually bought the new book and have read it before commenting, or are just like "nah... I don't need that, I'm going to try and flame instead."
Edit: I suppose I could have phrased this with less snark, so let me try again.
Look at the top of page 166 (Independent characters), now I'll ask "Is Mephiston a monstrous creature or vehicle?" then finish up with "Are Sanguinary priests independent characters?"
That should probably help whatever confusion you're having and answer your query whether it's false.

Well it is nice to see that 7th fixed the problem in the previous editions with Meph not being able to join or be joined by other characters, this opens up a bunch of diverent configs for using him, starting this post with this change would have saved some confusion on the issue
Ok, so incorporating everyone's favourite Chaplain (well, maybe not)
Mephiston T6
Cassius T6
Marneus Calgar T4
Tigerius T4
Inquisitor T3
Celestine T3
Celestine is adding some nice rules but that's a whole new combined arms detachment (assuming you're not unbound) so maybe a second inquisitor (has to be Coteaz)

All in a raider
Happy days!
Celestine has a Jumppack, no raider for her. Replace her with Coteaz for seize protection.
