I have been painting some trollblood figures for fun, but haven't had a chance to actually try out the game yet. A local game shop is hosting a journeyman league so I was thinking to buying in as trollbloods as I already have some units. The problem I have is that I have no interest in either Runes of War (pDoombringer) or Madrak. So, the plan would be to switch to my Grim as soon as the rules allow.

I think the Doombringer alternate battlebox gives me more interesting options so I would be starting with that, but I was wondering how these lists looked for 25pts+ after warlock swapping is allowed. They are based around models that I already own (but haven't painted yet) to cut down on $$ expenditure after the buy-in.

System: Hordes
Faction: Trollblood
Casters: 1/1
Points: 25/25
Grim Angus (*6pts)
* Pyre Troll (5pts)
* Storm Troll (5pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
Trollkin Long Riders (Leader and 2 Grunts) (7pts)
Fell Caller Hero (3pts)
Lanyssa Ryssyll, Nyss Sorceress (2pts)

(The first week of 25pts before the switch to Grim would fill the last point with Swamp Gobber Bellows)

System: Hordes
Faction: Trollblood
Casters: 1/1
Points: 35/35
Grim Angus (*6pts)
* Pyre Troll (5pts)
* Storm Troll (5pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Trollkin Long Riders (Leader and 2 Grunts) (7pts)
Lanyssa Ryssyll, Nyss Sorceress (2pts)
Raluk Moorclaw (2pts)
* Vanguard (5pts)

(The final week would swap the pyre for an impaler)

The alternative would be to get a Captain Bartolo highborn list and use the mercs I have.

This is an alternative I came up with. It reduces Moorclaw's footprint without cutting him entirely. The only things I would have to buy outside of the battlebox group would be the Fennblades and Buccaneer.

Angus loves ranged beasts, so I'd look at an Impaler, Bomber, and Mauler combo. The Impaler and Bomber work great with his spell list. And isn't a bad combo for other casters either.

Most Journeyman leagues also give you the option to build your own battle box(basically 11+ beast points to spend on battle group) so you might be able to start with Angus right off the bat.

One thing you might also consider in the long run is getting the new Troll Lesser Warlock who is coming out in a month or so. He can only run Slag and Pyre trolls, but they become super deadly with him.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I've never done a journeyman league before. I assumed they required official box lists. I'll have to ask what their stance is. Though, planning for the official list has actually made me pretty curious about the storm troll.

The problem with Horgol is I think he comes out after the league starts, so I don't know if I could get my hands on him in time.

Thinking about it, if journeyman box lists are limited to 11ish beast points, Grim wouldn't be able to run two lights and a mauler. It would have to be something like Impaler, Slag, Storm.
