Any thoughts on this? To my mind, if your primary detachment is Knights, according to the Knights codex, then your army is still battle forged because your following the codex's org chart.

Any thoughts?

Battleforged is a force thathas all it's units in detachments.
The Knight codex has rules for organising it's units into Detachments doesn't it?

Yep, a detachment of Knights = 1-3 Imperial Knights of any type, and can include no other units. Imperial Knight detachments do not have any command benefits, but otherwise work as any other detachment.

Since I don't have troops my Knights wouldn't get objective secured. But I would be able to reroll my warlord trait, right?

You don't get Objective Secured because they're not chosen from a Detachment with the Objective Secured Command Benefit. It's nothing to do with a lack of Troops.

Yep, you should never need to take an unbound army for Knights. If you need more Knights, just take another detachment.

As long as you follow the requirements for battle forged, then yes, you get to reroll the trait.

No, you only get the Ideal Mission Commander Command Benefit if the Deatchment they're in says that's one of the benefits it grants.
The Knight Detachment doesn't.

So, even if they're technically battle forged they don't get any of the benefits of being battle forged?

Currently no, not if you want a pure Knight-only list.

But you can add an Allied detachment or Combined Arms. Everything chosen from those would have the benefits.

Curently these are the only two types of detachment with any benefits. This will change in time...

Knights are an oddity this edition. They no longer have a primary detachment of 3-6, and are now restricted to detachments of 1-3, yet you can take as many detachments as you want, a Knight can always be your Warlord, and if you take at least 3, the Knight Warlord automatically becomes a Seneschal. As an Imperial Battle Brother, you can always take a Knight in an Imperial army list. And their D-Weapon got nerfed.

Effectively, nothing really changed (except for the D-nerf), despite everything changing.

Pretty much.

That D nerf is a two-way streak though. My money is now on the Knights Vs. a Warhound with x2 Turbo Laser Destroyers

I saw another thread on here saying that maybe the D weapon nerf doesn't apply to Knights because the melee D weapon is in the codex and codex trumps basic rule book.

Its an interesting notion

FAQ says to use the BRB D-Weapon rules instead of the codex rules, so no argument.

You could try and argue that, until the FAQ's released today changed that

Well that's good. I don't like the nerf, but I'd rather play with it than argue about it for half the game.

Not a fan of it either, but there is still no argument as its spelled out pretty clearly.
