Hello! I brought this up before months ago but I got shimmy shammed and overwhelmed with a bunch of Nay! Dont edit points costs you moe ron!

Im looking to edit the description of the rules for easier reference when I print my sheets so that way when you have a special rule or wargear like warp jump generator, itll say what the warp jump generator does as well as (hopefully) the page number.

Right now it is pretty much formatted like this: Warp Jump Generator | See C:E pg169.
Thats no help when you use the digital version and have to search through a semi slow reader.

Any tips, pointers or links would be appreciated!

There IS an editor in the AB package.
I know I used it back in 4th ed (AB3. something) when I was fixing up an error in the SM file.

I haven't used it in 2 years, though.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Ok! I figured out how to edit data files in army builder to add the rules to your quick sheet.

Tired of looking at your army builder print out quick sheet and seeing that your striking scorpion exarch has crushing blow, but cant remember what that does exactly? Then you flip your page to the special rules section and look down to Crushing Blow and what do you get? See C:E pg 36.

Ever slap yourself in the face with your hardbacked codex out of frustration? I know I have!

Ok on to the real skinny. For those of you lovely chaps and chappettes that are interested in killing some free time.

Open up army builder. Hit ok, ok, load any game system, hit ok, ok, create any list it doesnt matter. Then go to Develop>Enable Data File Debugging.

Next, go to the army builders file folder and open up ABCreator. Go to File>Open>Open Data File

Why data file and nothing else? Data file is where all the special rules and wargear info is. Play around in the folders and pick the system you want to edit in. I played around with AB40k5 (5th edition) because to me that system is obsolete. You should get a list of things like AP5DAT, ba5DAT etc.

the 5DAT is all the same, but it seems they use the first 2 letters in a races name, or the first 2 or 3 initials so with a little thought you can figure out ba5DAT is blood angels 5th edition data file. We are going to go ahead and open the file named ch5DAT.

From there itll bring up a screen of random stuff I havnt bothered to figure out. No bother! see the tabs near the top? Click on the one labeled Option. On the left side of the screen itll have a long, long list of options. For this example click on the one option id chBetrayer option name The Betrayer.

Bravisimo! If you notice when you clicked on chBetrayer the bigger box (which underneath is labeled description) to the right Is filled with the words of the rule. Thats the spot you use to edit the rule! Wonderful!
Great!
Excellent!

Edit it to something nifty to prove that it works. Whenever you edit an option, and click another option itll ask if you want to save. Hit yes, then exit the ABCreator. When you are back in army builder (You never turned that bugger off right??) go to Develop>Enable Data File Debugging. If you leave that selected itll give you an error message. Now restart army builder, grab a list with Kharn The Betrayer and hit print preview and your edited chBetrayer will display!

Have fun good luck!!
