Hey guys, I've been painting for quite a few years and have kind of had my fill of collecting for armies. Is there any models that you guys would recommend purely for painting. size and scale don't bother me I just want to try something new and challenging

thanks in advance!

Hmmmm, I really like the legion praetors from FW, if you like space marines? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/The_Horus_Heresy/Legiones_Astartes/Space_Marine_Legion_Army_List/Legion_HQ/LEGION_PRAETORS.html

There are lots of good companies making models that are really great to paint so it's a little hard to make suggestions without knowing what you like. Fantasy/sci-fi/historical/etc?

Price could be a factor too. For example, I think Pegaso produce some fantastic busts, but they are quite expensive compared to your average GW model (although considerably larger!) - http://www.pegasomodels.com/products_en.asp?idcat=26

Thanks for the suggestions so far. As for what I like it pretty much comes down to I'm not keen on historical models and that's it. Sci-fi, fantasy, steampunk and horror is pretty much my thing. painted loads of malifaux though.

I am a fan of Knight Models myself. They have an awesome selection of 72mm and 35mm scale characters from Marvel, DC Comics, Lord of the Rings, and other stuff.

I have the 72mm Wolverine and I'm really looking forward to painting it.

What about some of the Scibor Miniatures or Kromlech stuff.

Some of that stuff look quite fancy and fun to paint. No idea about the actual quality of the stuff sadly.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Maybe somthing random, fancy historical too just to see how good I could do.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

You can also check out a site like HobbyLink Japan and look at some of the fantastic kits that are produced in Japan. I'd check out a manufacturer like Bandai if you are interested in anime or sci-fi models. Another manufacturer to check out is Moebius. They make tons of sci-fi vehicle kits and other cool stuff. If you are interested in real space vehicles, Dragon Models offers various kits of the American Mercury/Redstone, Gemini, and Apollo program; I have their Apollo 11 "Lunar Landing" kit and it is extremely high quality.

Give this link a look if you are interested: http://www.hobbylinc.com/plastic_models

I'd say for larger scales, companies like Nocturna Models and Draconia are very nice.

Pegaso and Andrea also put out some beautiful larger scale models, but they are somewhat expensive.

Abaddon was a pleasure to paint. As are most of the chaos characters from gw. I just look at the lords/hq sections on the webstore and pick cool looking characters

So I was cruising around the internet this morning at work looking for blogs and websites that featured detailed builds on the 1/72 scale Fine Molds Millennium Falcon kit because I just shelled out the cash for one yesterday and I was looking for inspiration. While doing this, I stumbled across the website of a modeler who does tons of steampunk-type stuff. He had links to the people that made the models he was building and they are amazing, to say the least. Be warned, most of them are fairly complex and pretty pricey, but they are definitely worth a look.

The webstore is called Industria Mechanika: http://industriamechanika.com/shop/

I'm a hobby butterfly and so mainly only paint things I reall like, it's the main reason I have 3 unfinished 40k armies and about to start a 4th. My advice is twofold pick something tha is challenging so a new skill or some thing that's cool.
So for example I picked up the dark vengance box to practise using my airbrush to base coat and highlight, the raven wing are to practise painting black and highlighting and the chosen are to brush up on using glaze medium to create flawless bends between light and shadow without using edge highlighting or the magic of bedab black.
The most important rule is that you must love the model, so I brought a herald of tzneentch on chariot just because the model looked so cool the other day(first GW purchase in over a year!) other things I like are centerpieces such as the plague furnace, I've had to resist buying a imperial knight and I've a soft spot for the empire Demigriffon knights.
I'll probably get slated for this but during December and January(the slow time of year here rural south of France for a chef) I had great fun painting up my dread fleet box, probably be able to find one cheap on eBay and every model as every model is different I'm style and painting it was a nice little project.

Anyway enough babbling here are some linkys
Steampunk punk stuff as I to love malifaux.
