hey guys,

I have the oddest urge to star a drop pod list now that the reserves limits are gone, and it seems like they got a few other buffs in 7th ed.

what SM codex/chapter do you feel does drop pods the best?

tips? tricks? must haves and must avoids?

Definitely IH CT, IWNT is a huge buff for scoring drop pods, I would do massed squads of 5 man tact with melta, combi melta in pods for taking out tanks. You can then go assault squads swapping jump packs for a drop pod for free, and take duel flamers for taking out infantry. Storm ravens are fantastic and you can put a tech marine inside for HP repair in addition to IWND (I think, need to check the codex).

If you're planning on going Troop Heavy, then Space Wolves would also make a great Drop Pod list with Grey Hunters.

SW are supposed to get a new codex in the not to far future, I wouldn't buy anything for them yet.

It's good advice to pick one of the 'Hardbound' Codex for sure. With the way 7th Ed. construction is, it'll be easier to get units into armies, even if they change so you don't need to worry too much about 'should I get it now or wait'.

Salys arent bad right now either. TW meltas to pop armor, then Deathwind Missile Launchers to slap the infantry...

Didn't think about that. With the changes to flamers, having a unit or 2 of flamers for the odd Open-Topped opponent wouldn't be a bad idea.
