I played a game against a load of Imperial Knights and was told that because doomfists are dreadnaught close combat weapons and the dread Knight isn't I would have to smash in order to try and hurt them. Which under the new rules is one attack. The thing is I know under the previous faq it was said that a dread Knight with the great sword attacked at strength ten but that isn't in the new faq so which is right? I t doesn't make sense to give a dread Knight weapons it can't use?

That way,then left

"Dreadnought Close Combat weapon" is now (and in 6th) just a weapon profile , just like "Power Sword" or "Heavy chainblade"

Your friend was incorrect.

So should I have been able to use them to attack the Imperial Knight rather than having to smash? He was arguing that I couldn't use them at all.

The Nemesis Doomfist follows the rules for DCCWs. What are the rules for the DCCW?

Have to pick which weapon to use again, sword or fist. At least you get an extra attack for two weapons.

So Str6 re-roll everything or Str10 both are ap 2 and don't forget you can hammerhand yourself for Str8 sword attacks.

40k is as exciting as riding a pony, which doesn't sound very exciting.......

But the pony is 300 feet tall and covered in CHAINSAWS!

This is incorrect. The wording in the codex is quite clear and the new FAQ doesn't dispute that. If you have a greatsword you can still use the fists and get the rerolls from the sword.

The FAQ doesn't say anything about it at all, like it used to.
Here is what we have,
pg54 grey knight codex it says "a model with a greatsword re-rolls everything in close combat" - (This is the clear part you are talking about right?)

pg41 BRB it says "if a model has more than one melee weapon, he must choose which one to attack with when he comes to strike blows" - "he cannot mix and match the abilities of several melee weapons." - (The sword is a melee weapon, the fist is a melee weapon. You're mixing abilities.)

I scratch built a dreadknight with a sword, I want str10 with re-rolls so I can stomp riptides and wraithknights. Give me a little more to go on other than "you're wrong"

Is the DK a model armed with a Greatsword? The Greatsword does not require the sword to be used in order to gain its benefit.

Alright, thats how I thought it was intended. Ok I can understand the points you guys are making. I just wanted to make sure I would still be right in playing it that way.

Why not just use the 2 power fists then they can't argue w/ you and you also get an extra attack and they are all at str 10?

Because the rerolls are better than +1A for the Dreadknight in most instances.

Yeah but I hate spending those 25 points on an already expensive model/army when the fists are free.

Now doesn't he get the extra attack using the sword and fist? Two weapon bonus? None of them say two-handed or specialist. So 25points for +1 A and re-roll everything? It'll be good for helping you kill AV14 vehicles and the other big MCs.

I wasn't sure on that good to know. Glad he still gets the extra attack. I hadn't looked into it.
