at first I was hyped about it. but after seeing its only str4 ap6...I kinda lost that feeling.
I mean yeah it ignores cover, but at ap6 99% of the stuff hiding will have a better armor then cover anyways. Has anyone actually used one that can say if their actually a decent addition to an army?

Wyverns are able to make a horrible mess out of anything less than MEQ, and MEQ die too to the sheer volume of wounds. With 7E's changes to barrage VS multilevel ruins, there is no hiding from them, and they are very lethal to infantry indeed.

It has shred.
It's twinlinked.
It's dirt cheap.
You can have three per slot.
I don't know of any troop choices that aren't going to be worse for wear after getting hit with 12 of their shots.

On that note remember though, even though they arent limited to top floor anymore, they still only score hits on the models you can see under the template. They do not hit all floors at once.

Mortar squad - 60 points, 3 blast templates S4 AP6
Wyvern - 65 points, 4 blast templates S4 AP6, twin linked, shred, ignore cover, tank.
With twin linked, 56% of the time you will roll a direct hit. You will wound 75% of the MEQ that you hit.
When you choose to shoot the Wyvern, your opponent is basically just rolling armor saves because you are going to hit and you are going to wound. And with 4 templates and re-roll on the scatter, you are going to hit a lot of guys.

I can attest to its power. Ive used in in about 8 games and they've made their points back is spades. Last game I played I used two and attacked a 50 man conscript squad first turn I killed 30 and blew a 6 inch hole in the squad

Well this thread has convinced me to buy wyverns and I don't even run guard.

Honestly best artillery I have used for infantry killing purposes in 40k. I run them frequently. Because my army uses camo on all vehicles for some reason, they arent as efficient as they could be when bare bones.
I say take 3 if you have the chasis, dont buy the model though. Just use any old artillery vehicle and say it fires cluster rounds of rockets or something.
Only 65 points, so give a try a few games at least.
