Hey all!
I finally switched over a while ago from 40k to Warmahordes and have slowly been learning the rules and tricks.
I finally feel ready to participate in this months local competition, and I will be fielding Everblight
It is 35 points and I need help finding flaws in my list while still using available models.

What I have to play with is:
Warlocks: Abby, Plylith
Warbeasts: Carnivean, Raek, 4 Shredders, Angelius, Archangel
Units: Striders+UA, Warspears (No UA)
Solos: Totem Hunter (Minions), forsaken, Shepard, Deathstalker.

I have the most experience with Plylith, but I tend to win more when playing with abby.
So what I was thinking for a list is:

Absylonia, Terror of Everblight
Raek
Shredder (Tenacity)
Angelius
Carnivean
Blighted Nyss Striders (Leader and 5 Grunts)
Blighted Nyss Striders Officer & Musician
Blighted Nyss Shepherd
Strider Deathstalker
The Forsaken
= 35/35

would this be competitive in the slightest?
And another question is what should I invest in next?

Thanks, Papa

It's a decent list starting out, as a DEF 17 Angelius can give people fits. You will need to watch out for any lists with a heavy anti-upkeep slant, though. I would drop the Shepherd, as they work best with warbeasts that hang back and shoot and you don't really have anything that they can keep up with safely. In its place you might try adding Swamp Gobbers (for clouds/concealment) or a Feralgeist (can contest/control flags and zones, and because it's Incorporeal it's hard for some factions to deal with).

On the other hand, if you want to go REALLY ballsy, you can run your Archangel in place of your Carnivean/Angelius: this is a hefty chunk of your points to stick into one model at 35 (and exacerbates Abby's weakness to anti-upkeep), but a DEF 14 Gargantuan can be harder to crack than most people realize, and has enough boxes with that DEF that you have a good chance of feating to save it.

And another question is what should I invest in next?

Thanks, Papa

I would get another heavy warbeast kit, at the very minimum: the Scythean and Ravagore are both good warbeasts that you will often have uses for. Another Deathstalker, Forsaken and Shepherd are also good to have around since they're strong utility pieces/cheap anti-infantry that you'll find yourself wanting to double-up on in some lists. Past that it depends on what other Legion warlocks tickle your fancy.

With the models you have I'd recommend picking up pThagrosh, Warspears UA, Legionnaires, Spawning vessel, Succubus, 1-2 more Plastic heavy kits (Magnetize so you can hot swap between two Scytheans/Ravagores or one of each).

Add in another Forsaken and shepherd as you'll often double up on one or both.

Another Angel later on would be good.

After those basics it really depends on caster and point level. For casters I can't recommend both Vayls enough. They are a ton of fun to play. eThags is on an upswing currently and I love him to death. Eventually also pick up Saeryn as you'll want to at least be familair with her since she's one of our top casters.

Models/Units to avoid (at least at first): Archers, Warmongers, Grotesques, Nephilim, Teraphs, Beast Mistress, Scather Crew.
