As you can tell, I have some Cinerators I painted up a while ago from a trade and I do not want to have sitting on the shelf forever. So I wanted to give them some tabletop time. Some things that I was planning to use is pSeverius as my caster, Rhupert, and the Covenant of Menoth. That is all I have in my collection I think can help them out for the moment but tell me what you guys think and any other models that might try and work with them once I get a chance to get them.

Defenders Ward would be nice on them. Anything that can boost their speed (Vindictus) or armor or defense (clouds from the High Reclaimer)

Yeah, that is how I was thinking of using them. Using and/or Cycling Defenders ward on them, plus either Dirge of Mist on them for the +1 def and terror, Tough, and possibly pathfinder if need be. Also the book to prevent knockdowns from tough to make sure they get the charge off from their speed boost if they take damage. Speed is still going to be my issue, but I am not yet kind of willing to get a new caster yet.

Pretty much what you've covered. Thrown a ridiculous amount of support at them and they'll do well. In all honesty, I'm waiting on a UA or solo to make them work.

They're one of the few choices in Menoth which is just overshadowed by other options - Bastions fill the exact same roll, but better.

Now, that's not to say they're useless, but they need a couple of things - speed and toughness. I'd recommend Vice Scurator Vindictus as the perfect caster for them - he makes them Speed 6 and pathfinder, can give them defenders ward (generally switching it to them after the front line has been decimated), and opponents will generally avoid them on feat turn.

They still suffer from a low number of attacks, of course, but being trample proof and powerful hitters makes them a good second line body-guard for Vindictus, allowing him to play a little closer to the front (though you might still want some zealots for Sacraficial Pawn), and then counter striking against heavy targets.

Anyway, I live in hope of them getting a good senechal/UA to make them shine, perhaps we'll get that for our next release.

Harbinger gives them crusader call to help speed them up. Plus she is just a darn good caster.

They may not be the best unit to go with her, but if you want to use them she certainly doesn't hurt them and in the right circumstances they can be pretty quick!

Nothing can make Cinerators better than Bastions. Anything that makes them better also works on Bastions.

The only time you want Cinerators is if you are using Vindictus and already have maximum allotment of Bastions.

Both abilities the Cinerators have basically require your opponent to screw up.

Yeah, I am still planning to get Bastions because they are a really solid unit. But at the time being, I really cannot so I am planning to find a way to make the Cinerators work for me for the time being.

I've had this exact problem. I have two units of them and they're beautifully painted but... if I need medium bases my Bastions go in first. Reach is painfully difficult to give up and the shared wounds is so incredibly useful. Add to that the Bastion Seneschal- who is a boss with a pair of repenters- and I just can't justify them.

Vindictus is your man if you do though. The added speed and Pathfinder is invaluable. If you can get them to SPD 8 they can really surprise people. Unfortunately as others have said, they're really waiting for a UA or solo to make them really shine.
