Can you have a strictly Eldar army, but with 2 detachments, and still be Battle Forged? (As example, have 4 HQ and 4 Troops and be considered Battle Forged?)

If so, can you have more than 1 Avatar?

Yes, because the rule stipulating that you can only take one Avatar specifically says that you can only take one per detachment, not army. If you really want to run 3 of them in a 3-detachment list, you are well within your rights.

I just had to check the codex, believing that the avatar would be unique... but it's actually only 1 per detachment. This is disappointing but since there's supposedly one per craft world, not unfluffy. Not sure I'd like to see two in an army though but the avatar isn't really OP - far from it. It is however an example of how some new 7th ed rules make for daft scenarios...

You might find it hard to play it at a tournament though. Games Workshop are ruling their own tourney to be 1 CAD per list.
