Hey guys, kicked around a few ideas for a Harlequin supplement at the local store

I'm going to break this down into two parts;

The easy part (Which is the Force org swap and the one new special rule all Supplements get)

And the hard part (which would be branching it out into a full fledged codex)

Anyway, here's the rules for the supplement

Faction: Harlequin supplement counts as the same faction as either Codex: Eldar or Codex: Dark Eldar

Special rules:

Squads of Harlequin's may be taken as a troop choice
An Eldar Autarch with 'The mantle of the laughing god' must be selected as the HQ choice (Any other unit upgrades may be chosen as normal)

Boom! So that's done. (Other than warlord traits...)

Now for the more difficult part:

Here's some ideas:
Allow Harlequins to upgrade to hand flamers instead of Fusion pistols (10pts)

Drop the Death Jester choice from the Harlequin squad and spin it off into it's own unit entry as a Heavy support choice:

3-6 Death jesters that may be upgraded to have an Eldar missile launcher for 10 pts/model
One may be upgraded to a Shadowseer 10 pts

The Harlequin squad and the Death Jester squad may select Dark Eldar Venoms as dedicated transports

Harlequin jetbike squads (FAST ATTACK):
20 pts/ model
Stuff:
Eldar Jetbike (Toughness 4, 3+ save) Hit and run, 5+ Invulnerable save, pistol, close combat weapon,
Same upgrades as Harlequin squads (Harlequin's kiss, Shadowseers, Troupe leaders, Fusion/flamer pistols)

Master Shadowseer (HQ):

Special rules:
Independent character, Mastery level 2 (Knows Telepathy but changes the Primarus power to 'Veil of tears'), shuriken pistol, witchblade, 5+ invulnerable save, Furious charge, Hit & Run
May take Fusion pistol or hand flamer (10 pts) upgrade witchblade to harlequin's kiss or power weapon (free)

Master mime (ELITES)

(Bought in units of up to 3 but MUST be deployed as separate units but Mimes purchased as one unit arrive at the same time)
Special rules:
Character (NOT IC), Shrouded, Hit and run, Fear, Dark assault (Must arrive via deep strike inside a piece of area terrain - no mishap table - enemy may only 'Snap Shoot' at them the turn they arrive)
Shuriken pistol, Plasma and defensive grenades, Flip belt, holo-suit, Neural blade (S: user, AP 5, Type: Melee, Poison 3+, Rending)

SLANTE

Instead off the Autarch you could make your own Harlequin King to lead your force, based off the Dark Eldar Succubus.

Ws 8 Bs 6 S 3 T 3 W 3 I 8 A 4 Ld 9 Sv 5++ 70pts

Costing (Succubus stat-line. 65pts, swap Night Vision + Power From Pain for Dance of Death. Dodge=Holo-field +5pts)

Special Rules: Dance of Death

Options:

May take a Power Weapon for 10pts, A Harlequin Kiss for 5pts, Reaver Blades ( Two CC Weapons: Ap 3, 6's to hit cause and extra hit) for 20pts or Domino Gauntlet (Scorpions Claw) for 25pts.

May take a Fusion Pistol for 15pts, A Hand Flamer for 10pts or a Distort Pistol for 20pts (Rng 8'', Str 10 AP 2 Pistol, Distort)

May take n Eldar Jetbike for 15pts

Here you have something unique, so now if you wanted you could invent your own relics for the Harlequins to use. I recommend making this guy a choice that you HAVE to take, because all large Troupes are lead by one. To counter act this an Inquisition type rule were he could be your Warlord might be cool, something along the lines of ''Puppeteer of Cegorarch'' which allowed him to be your Warlord even if they are allies.

Other then that you have done a great job, i especially like the mimes. I think you have the beginnings of something really cool here, all you need to add is the mythic Solitaire, some Relics, A Warlord Table and maybe a few extra units. A few ideas for extra units i had would be a Marionette (Harlequin Wraithlord type thing), The Asp (Harlequin dedictaed Transport. Like a Venom) and maybe a few pieces of unique War Gear such as Tanglefoot Grenades or Rictus Masks.

Considering we pay 17pts for an eldar jet bike I think you are being a little too lenient having harlie jet bikes at 20pts. You have increased WS, A, I and Ld. You are also giving them 5++ and HnR. All for 3pts, 15 points more would be more realistic.

Also having a squad of shrieker cannons with the opportunity to take veil of tears may be a bit OP.

Also warlord traits? Something like veil of darkness, that gives army wide veil of tears when night fighting is in effect.

Thanks, yeah, the bikes are too cheap. 24 I thnk would work since they're not as good as laser lancers.

I wanted to lay off making new units for the supplement - since they never have new units but I suppose we could go crazy.

I like the high avatar.

I suppose the solitare could be a HQ unit as well, and cause fear.
