Just got back from my first Imdaar event of the weekend at Ronin Games in Castro Valley Ca. We had 16 players in attendance. I ran Garven, Dutch and 2 Rookies, all with R2s and an Ion Turret on Dutch.

Game one was against a relatively new player running Boba Fett with stuff, Jax with Hull and Shield upgrades and Mithel with VI. End result was me losing Dutch and a Rookie and clearing the board of the enemy.

Game two was against the player I met and lost to in the Regionals at KublaCon in game 6. He was running Chewie with Intel Agent, Gunner and Expert Handling and 2 Blues with Advanced Sensors. Sensing a chance for revenge, I went after the Fuzzball on the initial pass, stripping shields. As the game progressed it ended up an undamaged Garven going head to head with Chewie with 6 hull left. Garven was able to land 4 hits on the Wookie with receiving only 1 in return. Next turn Garven K-Turned behind Chewie and finished him off for the win.

Game three was against the eventual winner. He was running Krassis with HLC, Rebel Captive and something else, Howlrunner and 3 Academy Pilots. It was looking good when I landed the lose pilot ability crit on Howlrunner with my first shot before any of his pilots could use it. Unfortunately the game went quickly downhill from there. My dice went ice cold and I could only manage to kill one AP before losing my last ship.

So we moved on to the 4th and final round with the top 2 players playing with the new ships and the rest of those at 2-1 were paired off to see who would win a ship. My final opponent ran 2 Bounty Hunters with Recon Spec and Seismics and 2 Academy Pilots. The game ended up with Dutch killing the last BH with a shot from his Ion turret while a shieldless Rookie sitting on an asteroid looked on.

Once the games were over and the scores totaled, thanks to strength of schedule and much to my surprise, I managed to take second place, duplicating my Kessel Run performance and winning the E-Wing and $30 in store credit (which I spent on my 4th B-Wing and 5th Bomber).

All in all I had a good time even though I hadn't planned on playing due to being tired from a long day at work. The TOs convinced me to join in and boy am I glad I listened. Up next is Game Kastle in Santa Clara Ca. on Saturday, followed by Game Kastle in Fremont Ca. on Sunday.

Congrats man, I played in my store's Assault on Immdar last night, and went undefeated into round 4 and lost a close but extremely fun game.

My 4th round opponent and I had done so well in the proceeding rounds that we were top 2 at 3-1 and ended up playing each other in the event round. Though at that point it was like quarter after ten and we were both exhausted and wanted different ships. So we shook hands congratulated each other on our fun game and selected our ships.

Took second place by final round point standings and won myself an E-wing. Can't complain about that for my first ever X-Wing tournament.

That's awesome, I couldn't make it to my local store because of recent family issues. Congrats to both of you guys, man if i was there and if i won, i would have picked up a TIE Phantom for my prize.

I wanted the phantom, but I play rebels far more often so I gladly took the E. The guy who won grabbed the phantom. I'll just wait until it's released to pick up a few.

Im a sucker for the Empire, so i am getting at least 3 TIE Phantoms and Defenders. E-Wing and Z-95 still look great.

I went 1-2. I played 3 really close, really good games that were all up in the air until the final dice rolls.

Congrats on the win!

Not to sidetrack too much but how important are the R2s in your list?

I only have two R2s myself so I was curious if they are really that important or use the points for something else instead.

Congrats! Sounds like you'll be prepared for the next one!

I played in my local event (first tournament, 5th and 6th games ever) and got my head beat in (0-3). Had a blast though!

I've really got to figure out how to maximize the Firespray.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

R-2s are very important to me as they allow more maneuvering options to clear stress after K-Turning. Plus, putting one on a Y-Wing opens up it's dial quite nicely to clear the stress generated from the Red hard 3 Turn and 4 Straight maneuvers. One more thing an R-2 does is turn the white 1 straight from an Ion hit into a green. This lets me clear stress while ioned.

As for the other 2 tourneys I attended? Saturday I finished 3rd and picked up the Z-95 because the other ship was the E-Wing. I didn't want another one since I already have 2 on pre-order to go with the one I won and a friend of mine who finished 4th wanted it. As for Sunday? That's best not talked about at all as, after a first round bye, I proceeded to go 0-3 without a single ship kill in any of the games.
