So anyway while I was writing up my FAQ etc.. for Chaos Daemons Daemon Factory, I was really getting into Chaos Sorcerers and allies. Then I came across this gem.

All of the sanctic powers, like 50% or more are Warp Charge 1. A Chaos Sorcerer w/ Spell Familiar can casts these and not suffer perils. at a 75% success. If he does two it's a like 90% ( I think please correct math if wrong).

He can cast Sanctuary, Sanctuary adds +1 to invulnerables. You can get Tzeentch and Gain a 5+ on whatever you want.

He's not just one of the best Summoners in the game. He's one of the best buff units in the entire game. You can teleport.

You can Combine arms or with a FOC, and Ally with Crimson Slaughter ( I think this works).

You can cast Gate of Infinity, which as far as I am aware can be used in combat? Maybe?

Or you know put him in a squad of Terminators and give them a 4+ invulnerable, take mark of nurgle and make them T5 , or Slaanesh and take a Banner that gives them Feel no pain. Or a unit of Tzeentch and have a 4+, or just like anything with a invulnerable.

The big huge one...

You get Hammerhand.

Sooooo anyway, feel good. Feel good man.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

A very interesting idea.. 75% isn't great odds of course, and you only have a 50% chance of even getting sanctuary. Teleporting sounds handy, but not without risks. Banishment is kinda meh but free. The nova is very good. Still unconvinced that this tactic is better than rolling more dice on a table with less risk of mishap, like telepathy or divination. Same odds (using the balestar) of getting forewarning, which gives a 3++ with the mark of tzeentch. So thats clearly better.

They didn't let gate be used in combat last edition in a number of tournaments I attended. I wouldn't bet on it.

This is one of the changes I like. The Sorcerer seems really solid in comparison to many other Psykers. I've been running mine with the Balestar of Mannon for Diviniation, but I'm also eager to try out Biomancy, Telepathy and now Sanctic powers. The power of re-rolls is amazing.

Yeah. they're pretty damn good now.

Looking forward to trying one out against my bud's spyder-star. I'll be fishing for invisibility, but even iron arm will work. 4 strength 7 AP2 force attacks hitting on 3's will be delicious against monstrous creatures and other multi-wound beasties.

I think my nastiest idea for a sorceror would be to roll on sanctic and put an unmarked sorceror with a spell familiar in a unit of khorne bezerkers with kharne.

They'll be rocking a 0+ deny the witch, or 1+ if it's a level 3 casting it at them, if they get hammer hand then that's S7 attacks from the bezerkers thanks to furious charge, and they could get some nice blessings to keep them safe like the 4+ cover one. against the daemon-pooping flying circus, this would be amazing. they can spawn as many horrors as they want, the bezerkers are untouchable by magic.

The good news: There is no spyder-star in 7th edition anymore.

I was able to get off 3 summons on 4 dice each the other night, the familiar is very economical.
I ran 3 w/ 3 familiars...2 in termy armor, 1 with a jump pack for mobility

Oh, and on top of that, you can still run them in the apoc formation to generate D weapons, then break off the remainder and summon to your hearts content

Were you playing straight up summoning? I'd like to hear your thoughts if you wanted to post in the 99 problems thing about it that'd be great. I want to start collecting information on what other peopleare playing it as.

Yeah, my list was bound...

Slaanesh CSM Lord w/ black mace
Sorcerer w/ jump pack & spell familiar

2x 5x noise w/ doom siren & sonic blasters
3x 5x noise w/ blast masters

Heldrake
Laspred

Detachment
2x sorcerers in term armor w/ spell familiars

2x 10 cultists

Heldrake
Laspred

To be fair the game I got off 6 summons, 3 times on 4 dice was a doubles match, our guard/wolves opponents were so worried about the 2headed demon chicken that my sorcerers were only targeted really once that game

Last Memory of Yuranthos (Black Legion) is quite interesting with Spell Familiar. 18" Nova S4 AP5 2d6 blind, ignoring cover? And it gives one more ML = 1 more Warp Charge

Spell Familiar lets you re-roll failed Psychic rolls, as in ones, twos, and threes.

But whose to say you don't roll doubles of 4 or more?

So you're still risking perils. If anything you're just NOT risking failures.
