[updated: 6/2/14]
Hey all, so I recently picked up a third Tyrant in light of seventh and even though FMC's got a big boost I think I want to make him a Walkrant to smash about. I wanted to push the list up to 2000 so that I could take a dataslate formation as well as take advantage of being able to have an allied detatchment. I believe it falls under the restrictions of being battle forged but I could be wrong. Thoughts welcome!

Primary Detatchment Tyranids

HQ:
Tyrant(Wings, 2 TL Devourers, Toxic)
Tyrant(Wings, 2 TL Devourers)
TROOPS:
Tervigon(Miasma, Dessicator Grubs)
30x Termagants
ELITES:
1x Venomthrope
2x Zoanthropes
Heavy Support:
Tyrannofex (Rupture Cannon, Dessicator Grubs)

Allied Detatchment

HQ:
Deathleaper
TROOP:
2 x 18x Toxic Hormagants

Dataslate Formation: Tyrant Node
Hive Tyrant(LW/BS, STC, Toxic Sacs)
Tyrant Guard
1x Venomthrope

[updated]
More troops is never a problem for the nids Now... should I split my new group of hormigaunts into three groups of 12? Seems a tad small but that's +2 fast scoring units so that's not too bad. Thinking about the list now I'm not too sad about having to drop the Hive Crone.

Well...I Think you need one more Troop, so you can take 4 HQ's. That way you're still "battle forged". Then you can just add in a Formation with points that are left...

I'm still confused on the new requirements. How am I lacking?

Primary:
1 HQ, 1 Optional HQ, Two mandatory troops
Secondary
1 HQ, 1 Mandatory troop
Dataslate formation
taken as described - I don't believe these formations have other restrictions besides taking what's required I could be wrong?

I am pretty sure that both Detachments require two Troops to stay "battleforged" An ally runs 1 HQ, 1 Troop, 1 etc... I think anyway

But if you add a second FOC (totally allowed I believe) then each needs the 2 Troop tax paid. Thats not usually a problem for Nids, as "Troop Spam!" is one of our "things"

Nid's can't use the Allied detachment becuase it of the "different Faction" requirement. We can take 2 or more CAD's though, thus 1 HQ and 2 troop each.

Ahah! There it is, I thought those were merely examples but read on a little more and there it is.

what is CAD?

I've updated the list above, dropping the crone to add in a troop for my second HQ. Should I split the hormigaunts into groups of 12? Seems like a good move with objectives in mind but I fear minimal squads will be cleaned out rather quickly.

Thank you both for the help
