For instance, I have a photobucket and a blog account, but I like to upload large hi res images for people to see in detail. However, linking those images here result in gigantic images on the forums. Is there a way to link an image in a resized forum-friendly resolution besides completely redoing all of my hi-res images individually and linking them just for forum use?

You could always also upload them in the gallery here. It would be an extra step, but resizing would be an extra step as well.

The gallery here is very good. It lets you upload in high resolution, gives you quick easy size options for posting in threads without shrinking the actual picture, let's people zoom in the gallery for extra details, and you can still link to them and post them in your blog and other forums.

Between photobucket and the gallery, I would really go for the gallery.
