Really surprised by this and I am not sure who she could be playing.
I assume shes been picked because of her role in Game of Thrones so I'd assume some sort of honorable warrior type. Thing is that I can't see a Jedi character needing to be big or tall and I can't think of an expanded universe character who might fit the bill. Maybe that girl from Dathomir who gets her hand blown off and wears the dragonscales in Jedi Academy; I think she was described as quite amazonian; but not particularly tall or imposing. A sith I could definitely see in terms of appearence ala the female Sith Warrior from the Old Republic MMO and her being a British actress might support that; but I can't see her being a villain either. Indeed her being british would very much imply an Imperial character. Although there are quite a few female Imperial officers and admirals in the expanded universe, again, I am assuming they cast her because shes the whole big warrior character and I can't see that in an Imperial character. Stormtroopers cannot be women BTW. Personally I would really like if she played a Mandalorian. I could definitely see her playing one as a minor role and as the whole honorable hunter. Most Mandalorians are bound by a profound sense of honor and they wear heavy armor much like Briene in the show does. It would be a good shout out to the original and Boba Fett but casting a woman n an honorable mandalorian as opposed to a bounty hunter would be very distinct.
So my money is that shes playing a Mandalorian as a member of the supporting cast and I hope thats the direction they take. I don't want ALL the cast to be Jedi.
