Subject: crypteks and lords joining another detachment

The way I look at it is that my ICs can join a unit from another detachment so why can't crypteks when there is nothing hugely concrete in the faq or codex preventing it?
Right now I've been playing my list with 3 royal court members in squads of warriors as unbound but there are enough foc slots filled for it to be battleforged. What's the verdict?

Crypteks are not Independent Characters, so they cannot choose what unit they join in the same way. They have to be assigned to one of your Deathmark, Lychguard, Warrior or Immortal squads from your primary detachment, you can't put them into an allied detachment. I think that's what you're asking, I didn't quite understand what you meant, but that should be the jist of it.

He's not asking about allies, but assigning Crypteks from one CAD to a unit of Deathmarks, Lychguard, etc. in a different CAD.

Per the Necron FAQ for 7th, replace all instances of army with Detachment.
Royal Court members may not join applicable units outside of their current detachment.

Except the page in the codex only states what units the Crypteks can join with no reference to 'army' or 'detachment'.

Unfortunately this only clarifies that you receive 1 royal court per overlord in that detachment. It does not state that rc members must remain in that detachment hence my reference to ICs as there is no global restriction in regards to characters joining units in other detachments.
The faq seems written so that you don't get 4 royal courts in a cad army with 2 overlords.
