Wargear details

Witchblade of Kurnous

Forged from composite Wraithbone and infused with the relentlessness of Kurnous himself, only the heaviest armour offers protection against this blade.

Range: - Strength: User AP:3 Type: Melee, Fleshbane, Armourbane

Antlers of the Firstborn

Attached to Uldryuan's Ghosthelm, the Antlers of the Firstborn passively absorb and store a portion of the wearer's psychic energy, ready to unleash it on the field of battle.

Uldryan may cast one Witchfire power per turn without consuming Warp Charge points. In addition, an Apocalypse army with Uldryan as the Warmaster may include a Firstborn Avatar.


Special rule details

Lord of Yhana
If Uldryan is in your primary detachment, he must be your Warlord.

Psyker
Uldryan always has the following as his psychic powers: Destructor, Eldritch Storm, Protect, Doom, Smite, Crush, Ethereal Slash

Ethereal Slash (Warp Charge 2)

Focusing his mind, Uldryan slashes the foe with a myriad of ethereal blades.

Ethereal Slash is a Nova power with a range of 4". All units (Friend and foe) struck by the power suffer a strength 5 AP4 hit. Ethereal Slash may be cast in combat.

Providence

When the fury of battle reaches its zenith, Uldryan twists his prescience into reality, charging himself with untold might and causing blows and shots alike to vanish, landing in other timelines or even in the Warp.

At the start of any of your turns except the first, Providence may be used. This is treated as a psychic power that costs no Warp Charge and can't be denied. Providence lasts until the end of the following player turn. For the duration of Providence, Uldryan is invulnerable to all damage. In addition, he immediately generates an additional four Warp Charge that only he can use, and that only can be spent on Ethereal Slash. At the end of Providence's duration, Uldryan collapses in exhaustion and is removed as a casualty.

I will bump this only once, as I am still looking for feedback on his powers and pricing and so on.

He costs a whole lot for a toughness 3 Beat Stick with a 4++ save. I personally think you should tone him down a bit then give him a few support abilities. When have you ever seen a crush everything melee character make his points back? Not me. It might be better to have him Ws 6 A3 and Mastery Level 2, then cut down to 3 Psychic Powers plus Slash (Recommend Destructor, Protect and Doom) but fit in a support ability or to. How about Channeling runes inkeeping with the DOW theme, if Uldryan doesn't move, shoot, assault or cast powers, then a unit that started within 12'' of him gets a 4+ Feel No Pain?

I do on the other hand love the idea of a HQ Warlock, i think GW really missed out on giving us a High Warlock.

The idea is that he is going to sit in a squad and use that as protection.

WS6 just won't cut it, for fluff reasons- he is on an Autarch level of skill.

ML2 feels a bit low for him, I dunno. I could remove a few psychic powers and give him a better save.

If you want to use him like this, it wouldn't be broken and i would let you. It's just i wanted to say that Super Psykers, especially ones that rely on Witch Fires, barely ever make their points back. Use Eldrad, you will always feel satisfied with how he plays, use Ahriman, you will be disappointed at only throwing out 3 Witchfire the entire game.

Also, expensive as heck T3 models that lack Eternal Warrior will always be depressing. Just ask Vect...

I'd bet you are thinking of Dark Eldar Archons, who are Ws 7 Bs 7, or the Succubus who is Ws 8 (!) Bs6. But it would be a bad idea to base this guy of an Archon, as they don't get half the fancy stuff Eldar get. Such as an Armour Save...
