Hey guys quick question about WoC and Hellstrider units with characters. In the WoC army book it states that when a unit of hellstrider destroys an enemy unit (whether in combat, running down, etc.) it gains the bonuses. Do these bonuses also transfer to characters in the unit? It says the mounts do not get the bonus but it doesn't say anything about other characters in the unit. Just a little clarification would be great. Thanks!

I believe it is just the hellstriders. They are the ones who have the soul hunter special rule. (pg 91) as attached characters would not have the rule they will not get the bonus.

I don't want to be insulting, but how can you think that bonuses gained by a special rule apply to anything without said rule?

Simple mistake, re-read the rules and I understand. Thank you Welsh! But while I am here, darkavenger why even put a post like that honestly? Not all of us are Warhammer geniuses, I may make a mistake or misinterpret a rule now and then. Luckily there are kind enough people like Welsh to tell me how it works and the cite the page. That is all I wanted. I don't need you to be condescending about me not knowing the rules 100%. That is what this particular forum sub page is for right? Asking questions about the rules?

It's not genius. It's reading a special rule. If you have the rule, it applies. If not, it doesn't. Simple as that.

^ You don't have to quote the entire post if you are replying to the one directly above yours. That's what the Caret key is for.

@ the OP, some special rules like stubborn get conferred to a unit if a character with that rule joins the unit but a majority of special rules don't get passed on. This is one such rule. Keep asking questions man that's what this part of the forum is for.

Thanks man, that is what I was a little confused about. Because stubborn and magic resistance transfer, so didn't know 100%. Thanks for the help!

Think of it like in 40k, USR will often say if they carry over (lines such as "At least one model in a unit" or "use the highest Magic Resistance in the unit")

As a general rule, special rules DONT transfer over, unless specified otherwise.
(good example would be frenzy, a unit doesnt get the benefit of frenzy just because a joined character has it, but they DO get the "test to restrain" effect...)
