Hi All,

I recently picked up the super-cool DreamForge Games Leviathan Mortis model. This model is just that awesome that I couldn't resist taking a few happy snaps as I paint it up.

After base coating the whole thing in GW Chaos Black spray, I did a coat of The Army Painter 'Platemail Metal' Primer. This is the first time I've ever used an Army Painter Primer and I'm completely amazed at how smooth the finish was:

With no idea how I wanted to paint it, I started to follow the box art and started to apply colour around the model:

Still can't get over how amazingly well sculpted that skull-face is:

After that was all done, I took to the silver parts with a pot of Tamiya 'Smoke' ink:

The skull got a wash of the old GW 'Gryphonne Sepia' wash to give it a more boney look:

And of course, the two most amazing parts of the model got some TLC applied to them too:

Still got a bit of a way to go before it's finished, but any C&C is most welcome.

Cheers!

For the Emperor and Sanguinius!

It's looking good man! Any idea what you are going to use it for? I have a Crusader and Mortis that I use as knight titans with my CSM army and I absolutely love them!

Looking good so far man!

It needs highlighting or dry rushing for a greater amount of deviation and constrast.

Looking at that, I need to get some smoke spray. Instant weathering and shading in one. Very cool looking model.

Looks good, that's a nice, easy technique you have picked up. Makes it look like you have spent more time on it than you probably have.

However, edge highlighting the metal with a lighter shade will add considerably, as will going over the pistons in a lighter shade and adding some highlight to that.

Different metals have different 'lustre', meaning they look brighter or dimmer. Different surface treatments also affect the lustre of a metal. For instance, Stainless Steel looks more like chrome than Brushed Steel due to the surface treatment, and Chrome is brighter than Silver.

You can also add a light ring of Gryphonne Sepia close to the furthest away end of the piston to get a mark at the end of the piston's travel from the very thin sheen of oil left there.

Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe, and Lao-Tzu, and Einstein, and Morobuto, and Buddy Holly, and Aristophanes…then all of this…all of this…was for nothing. Unless we go to the stars." Tamiya doesn't do a spray version of smoke

Oh, it was an ink, I thought it was airbrushed. I still need some, though.
