I am a new player new to the forum. I am currently running Iron Hands Clan Raukaan with either Ultramarines or Imperial Knights (As soon as the IK is assembled and painted that is) as my ally depending on the game and month. I started playing 40k 3 months ago. The only other wargame I have ever played was battletech with the hexs and cardboard cutouts. I currently working on several conversions because GW doesn't seem to believe in making things easy and including all unit options in a single kit for said unit. If someone could point me to some tips and tricks I could use to build a Terminator captain/termie CM with chainfist and thunder hammer it would be appreciated. Some of the other projects I'm working on is a biker command squad, a biker librarian (needs some tips on this as well), and a whole boatload of other models. My Local gamestore closed it's doors this last week and had a going out of buisness sale so I picked up a bunch of stuff. We are still going to keep our 40k league going though.

Anyway, have you considered magnets? Since all the unit options are there but usually you have only 5 sets of torso and legs. I don't play marines so I can't help you with the Termie captain.

No, It was under FASA still when I was playing Battletech and Mechwarrior. I do like what Catalyst has done with the game though. If I were a more proficient builder I would make a scratch built mech for my custom designs. I am thinking of holding off on the Termie captain just because of the new psychic phase. I am worried I might need Librarians more. With all the people running Grey Knights and other various psychic armies here I might need to get as many libbys as possible so I can possibly cancel the important stuff. Which brings me to another point. What is the best way to make a libby on a bike? On a side note I am thinking of building a Thunderfire cannon for my front yard. It would look good in the background of my windmill being charged by Don Quixote. That is if someone hasn't stolen him again. I might have to figure out a way to bolt him down.

If you ever have a thunderfire cannon in your backyard, it'll be amazing to post it up. Heh for all the geeks here, I'm sure nobody would mind one in their backyard.

My buddy played Tomb Kings. He had many Liche priests/high priests. In response I had to fill every army I thought up with mages. It inhibited my armies' individual personalities. Advice: never mind what others do (vis'a'vis Librarians). Do whatever army you think is the coolest and you will have the most fun.
I can't advise you in regards to your Librarian conversion since my own Space Marine conversions had such enthusiasm over skill. Some of the scratch-built power fists/claws I built make me cringe to this day. On the other hand I did learn that it takes more than just a midnight blue paint-job to make a power weapon.
Whatever you do, do not beat yourself up too much. My first Space Marine force (the Imperium Law Chapter) may have been awful but I learned hard from every mistake I made. You can too (plus you may not screw up your initial run at them). My advice: Gung ho! Banzai! Geronimo! Let's go for it! Kowabunga! No excuses, man, just enjoy the game as much as you can.
