Hello Dakka. Here is a list I came up with for my future space marines. I have just picked up the 7th edition rulebook, so I am trying to have a strong psychic phase while still not making a force centred upon it.

HQ — Chief Librarian Tigurius — 165 Points

HQ — Librarian — Mastery Level 2, Terminator Armour, Storm Shield — 125 Points

Elites — 7 Sternguard Veterans — 4 Combi-meltas, Melta Bombs — 165 Points

Dedicated Transport — Drop Pod — 35 Points

Elites — 8 Assault Terminators — Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields — 250 Points

Troops — Tactical Squad — Plasma Gun, Combi-plasma — 165 Points

Dedicated Transport — Rhino — 35 Points

Troops — Tactical Squad — Plasma Gun, Combi-plasma — 165 Points

Dedicated Transport — Rhino — 35 Points

Troops — Tactical Squad — Flamer, Combi-flamer — 155 Points

Dedicated Transport — Drop Pod — 35 Points

Troops — Scout Squad — Sniper Rifles, Camo Cloaks — 70 Points

Fast Attack — Stormtalon Gunship — Skyhammer Missile Launcher — 125 Points

Fast Attack — Stormtalon Gunship — Skyhammer Missile Launcher — 125 Points

Heavy Support — 3 Centurions — Grav cannons and Grav amps — 250 Points

It comes in at exactly 2000 points. Any comments and criticism would be appreciated.

Let us know how you plan to deploy this list,
which characters go with which units etc..

Of Course.

Tigurius and the other librarian with either both go in the terminator squad, or split up, with one going in the Terminator squad, and the other in the centurion squad. They plan on getting some general buffing powers, either rolling on Sanctic daemonology, biomancy or telepathy. The Sternguard veterans drop down to hopefully capture an objective and bust a tank. The Assault Terminators will be Deep Striking. Hopefully, they can withstand return fire with either a 4+ feel no pain save or 2+ invulnerable save. That's about it. Everything else is self-explanatory.

I would take drop pods over rhinos right now. Immobile troop transports still have objective secured and can take objectives. 5 man squads coming out of those makes it difficult to deal with all the scoring units. I'd also take the big flyer to transport the centurions but I do like talons, not particularly here, but in general. Thought about taking Pedro to make the vets scoring?

I was always thinking about taking Pedro, however (I think) that in the new rules, everyone is scoring, regardless of whether or not they are troops. Troops just get an additional objective secured special rule. Although that would be nice, I did not like the idea of spending 100-200 points on a guy to give a unit that is as resilient as tactical marines objective secured. Also...Tiggy...

Drop pods are a monetary thing - I would take them, however, I already only have 2 rhinos and 2 drop pods. I may be able to squeeze one more drop pod in, but that is all.

I have had no flier experience whatsoever, so would your suggestion be to swap the Stormtalons with one Stormraven? If so, would it be better off going tank-hunting, with twin multi-meltas and lascannons, or go anti-infantry/flier, with twin assault cannons, typhoon missile launcher and hurricane bolters? Also, why would my stormtalons not work?

Thank you for the feedback.

True on the objective secured thing. I just feel if you're going to spend the points on them anyways might as well have them scoring and allow half your troops to bolter drill. The stormraven for talon is for transporting centurions. Not entirely necessary.

That was my question. According to the rulebook, every unit is scoring, so my Sternguard are already scoring. I just do not think that is is worth the 200 points to make the Sternguard uncontestable. Also, do you think that the list will hold its own in a competitive setting, and in the Psychic Phase?

I think your assault termite squad math is wrong.

5 with th/as is 225 so 8 would be 360. Not the 250

Its a game, have fun. If you arent for some reason...find a new one.

Your sternguard math is wrong, a squad of 7 is 142 and another 45 more points for upgrades. Also, what do you want from us? Feedback? If that's the case take out the terminator assault squad and get more drop pods whenever you can. I actually love tiggy and the Libby however they need to be only focused on getting Gate or Levitation for an already immobile centurion squad
