Subject: Tank weathering tips for a desert scheme.
So I've just finished the basecoat for my chimera and I'm taking a break.
Im just pondering how to weather it. The fluff/backstory etc is they are a desert regiment so Im wondering what sort of weathering to do on the lower half of the tank as its not going to be caked in mud. The majority of the colour scheme is a light bone colour (almost white). What sort of ravages (other than standard dings and grazes) could I give it. Would rust look authentic if its been in the desert.? I was thinking rust running down from the bolts but desert = little rain for liquid to drip down. maybe some sort of dust effect? Im new to the whole world of weathered tanks. Back in the day all my tanks were fresh off the assembly line, or so it seemed.
Amy tips or pics?

Try drybrushing a bare metal colour over any corners and edges, working away from the edge. This should give the impression of sand storms stripping the paint from the more exposed areas (hopefully).

A light pigment (assuming you could see it on your paint scheme, maybe a light earth yellow) completely covering every surface would be a lot more desert like. Tomcat's sandblasting idea is about right too.
You have to think sand. Sand everywhere.
