Hi Dakka painters, I've been painting up some infinity lately and I've decided to use yellow and orange - two colours I've long avoided because the citadel yellow and orange are blotchy and uneven, no matter what I try.

I'm just wondering, as to if its just citadel yellow/orange, or all yellow/orange that are like this? Also, is it possible to fix this problem?

Yellow is hard to paint, dark yellow or yellow brown cover better, can be used as a base and will overall make it look much smoother

Yellow, red, and white are notoriously weak colors - orange can also be, especially the brighter types. Some brands have somewhat stronger or weaker versions of those colors, but it's a general problem with the pigmentation that stretches across brands.

Expect to need to apply numerous thinned coats (or use an airbrush) to get strong, even coloration. Basing in a darker, stronger version of the color can help, as mentioned.

Sweet. Dark Red works as a great base for light red, and flesh colour is working for the orange. Cheers
