Hey guys! I was just wondering if anybody has tried to make any "theme" armies, and if so, what are they?

I had an idea of making an "full metal alchemist" Dark Eldar theme. With an HQ Haemonculus (the same name as the show's antagonist) troop wracks based as minor antagonist and beastmasters with khymara to accompany them.

The main problem is I'm not sure if I would need any special tools to make them look how I wish. Do any of you who have theme armies use any special tools for modeling or converting?

I'm not sure what you mean...

Are you talking about other than an x-acto knife, glue and clippers?

The tools you need depend on the what you are doing. Need a hole? Use a hand drill. Getting rid of mold lines? Files work best. Need extra support in a part? Drill a hole ( remember the hand drill...), put in a bit of brass rod.

This thread has a lot of resources.

I certainly have several units with odd themes to them, so I understand the urge.

Personally, greenstuff (and a nice set of tools) is a good start. Plasticard and polystyrene rod is another must, usually available from engineering supplies outlets. Guitar wire is a good way to make good looking conduit, wires, or hoses.
