This weekend I finished off a couple of pieces of sci-fi industrial terrain. Like most of my stuff, they are built mainly of 2nd hand toys and random bits.

Not built with a specific game in mind, but they are fairly generic and will probably see use in games like Wastelands, Tomorrow's War and Warpath. More pics and a walkthrough of the method and components used here: http://chicagoskirmish.blogspot.com/2014/06/sci-fi-industrial-buildings-from-old.html

Very nice work!
An excellent departure from the usual, dreary color schemes.
I like it!

Very nice! Made me consider looking for old toys that I can convert.

Really good work here, friend. Modular in style, can be used for pretty much all games.

Would love to let my grand armies clash with these pieces of terrain on the board.

Thanks folks, I'm glad that you liked it.
As for color. I've really tried to get away from only bland colors in urban environments I take a lot of inspiration from ironhands.com who's "Necromundicon" subsection makes nice use of color but not in an over the top way. It's also where I learned to use toys and other junk to make terrain.

Toys are great because they tend to come with texture and greebling already present and in many cases it's just a matter of gluing the various parts together. Just make sure you don't go overboard or you'll end up like me, with boxes and boxes of toy parts filling up your workspace.

As to Modularity, it is a big priority for me, so I'm building a lot more terrain without bases now so it is as flexible as possible.
