Hi Everyone,
Ok so Fred's finally finished and boy am I happy about that!
Some of you might be interested to know that I purchased this kit from the infamous Mike Biasi back in 2003. It was the last one he had, so you could say anecdotally that this is the last ever Great Gargant! Doesn't change anything about it but its interesting to know.
Sorry for the quality of some of these photos, it was really hard to get everything in focus given the size of this thing and my white sheet wasn't always big enough in the back ground.
So its taken a while to get him all painted up but he's done. Here is the finished product:
Full Frontal (little marine in front for scale):
Different angle with lights on:
And around the back:
Closer view of the left and right arms (sorry for rotational issues).
Now for the detail-
The head:
My favourite part of Fred, the Spotter taking cover from the elements, UV can be a killer!:
(Sorry this is on its side. Couldn't get it to turn around without lots of error messages.)
Spotters helper.... seems to have lost a finger, but injuries will happen on a Great Gargant:
Oh no, there it is. Finger found! I suppose its too late for the Gretchin to put it back, but its nice to know where it is:
Big Chain Saw:
Room inside (this was really hard to get a photo of but there are 4 Orks in here in a room built into the side of the beast, also something you can't see is a door with a gretchin peering into the room through it). To make this you have to cut a hole in the resin model (very carefully) and then build a room and place it on the inside. A lot of effort but I wanted each level of the Gargant to have something of note to attract your eye. The original model was a little devoid of interesting details but makes a great platform:
Here is another view with the lights on. You can just make out the back wall (bluish colour at the back).
Gretchin keeping himself busy in a less than productive activity on the belly gun:
I hope you enjoy as much as I like seeing it on the shelf at home. Only problem now is that I need to redo the shelving of my display cabinet as this is just a little too tall.
Cheers,
Ant
