I like the way this is shaping up. I just started college, and my time to paint has been...dramatically reduced. It really doesn't look like AT-43 is being aimed at the younger crowd at all. If anything, the quality of the prepaints suggests that they're going for gamers who have much too little time. There's a reason I can make a good amount of money painting, I usually paint for people with full-time jobs or children. I'm thinking that this right now is a good step forward for gaming period.

It seems sometime during the month of october Rackham will be releasing the rules for AT-43 online.

so wether we like the figs or not, now we can see if the game is worth anything as far as rules go. *crosses fingers*

here is the site where the company's president addresses the issue.

Boy, those sentences give me chills. "okay 50 millions dead, but at least we have reached 20th century!" I wonder how people like you manage to link the two notions. Those people had to die? A form of sacrifice?

Tell me, how many people died in say, Denmark, to have the country "move forward"? Oh, but maybe in your twisted mind Denmark isn't a democratic government...

+1 - about yourself. Go learn a bit about mass murder in China and the oppressive state, then - if you have an elementary form of conscience - you will feel ashamed by your very own statements.

(just in case - it has nothing to do with prepainted miniatures)

I hope we will get back to AT-43 before this topic gets locked.

Under the communist rule, many were sacrificed due to the Korean war and the culture revolution. Many people died due to idealism at that time and had nothing to do of building up the country. Indeed,  China moved backward instead of forward. It started to move forward again only after the gang of four got pushed down.

Obviously, you know absolutely nothing about China and its history. You mentioned that it is an oppressive state but have no idea what it means. You certainly will not understand why it is needed and how it has changed overtime.

Let me educate you once more, boy. When the last kingdom of China was overthrown, you had a situation of a large populated country that was very poor. Over 90% of the people could not read or write. The situation did not improve after the nationalist took over in the 30's. You  simply cannot run a democratic government over such group of population. People were expecting someone to lead them and had no concept of electing a president to represent them. When people in China realized that they were so far behind, they turned their hope to Communists due to the absolute corruption of the Nationalists. How do you think the communists won the civil war? When the whole army corp, almost half a million troops, deflected from the nationalists to communists, there would not be much to fight about. Deflection occurred in almost every battle from platoon to divisonal levels.

Back in the 70's when the gang of four was in power, China was very oppressive. However, idealogy and political situation have been changing since then. Certainly, it is still far from the Western standard but has taken many steps forward in the right directions compared to 30 years ago. What the westerners should do is to continue to advise the communists, to guild them, to remind them and to provide them with good examples rather than treating them as the evil enemies.

Tianamenn Square incident really makes me angry about those student leaders. They were acting impulsively and irrationally. Chairman Dang was once a foreign student in France. He struggled through the chinese revolution and would definitely not tolerated the same thing happened to him. Those students were the cream of the corps and the future of China. Eventually they would have taken over the important positions in China. With their opened mind to democracy, the entire communism in China would eventually collapse from within. Instead, they were all slaughtered and the move to Democracy in China got pushed back a few more decades. It is a shame that the massacre occurred. It is more shameful that no one at that time asked the students to calm down and stay home and wait for a better moment.

I appreciate that more and more company leaders are going online to directly address the masses.  I think the senior Rackham people's involvement in that forum have done a lot to inspire faith that  they are really working hard to get this right.  Thye also recently announced that if things go according to plan, the Damocles box should be ready by late November/ early December.  Then there is also the online rules in a couple weeks.  All and all, looks like good news ahead with this game.

I've read the reports from the Origins demo's, and while there is what I found to be some confusing math at first, once you get the hang of it, it seems to work pretty well.  And the best part is things die quickly, unlike what it sort of felt like at times with COnfrontation.

Obviously, you know nothing about me, hence nothing about what I know or don't know.

You don't educate anyone. You just distill propaganda.

China, like many other places in the world in the XXth century, has been plagued with violence, powerty and corruption.  Other countries managed to get through without massacres - something that seems to escape you. Finally, your comment on percentage of literacy is just racism. Democracy is not linked to literacy. Wonder how many people know how to read and write when US came to independence? And what about India today ("The world's biggest democracy", as they call them)? And while we are at it, now that most of China is literate, why is Democracy not happening? Maybe because a bunch of autoritarian communists are in the way...

Tianamenn Square incident ? Angry about those student leaders? I've heard enough. Your scornful stance doesn't help either.

Have a nice day with your little red book.

Now, I'm pretty sure I've seen posted at the TMP and other places that those figs are going to be MACHINE painted, and not painted by enslaved folk on the other side of the world (or here). That would be all kinds of bad. Perhaps this was discussed above, but I took polysci in High School, and don't need to hear this kind of ranting and raving (no matter how productive to your personal karma) on a MINIATURES BOARD.

And so in before lock.

Yeah, so we're getting insanely off topic. Seems like a good time to lock it. Feel free to start again but don't bother with the geopolitical discussions.
