But I'd agree with the Spiggott that actual adults would not detect any. One only has to compare Dan Abnett's writing with that of Vladimir Nabokov, for example, to see the difference. A book written by the former might be mistaken for being mature because it touches on subjects of violence, sex, and disney-esque 'gothic' themes, while a book written by the latter is mature because of its sophisticated treatment of its subjects lends us insight into our own humanity.

That said, I don't like 40k because of its 'mature flavour', I like it because it's incredibly silly and fun, a bizarre pastiche of sour candy fluff rather than anything to satisfy a mature palette.

How interesting....I'm sitting here reading Lolita right now. I still stand by what I said, and I think that many of you are confusing sophisticated with mature. I think what it really gets down to is that some of you, no offense, might be trying to impress everyone by how deep your own understanding of the human condition is, and that doesnt include appreciating something like the 40k fluff as mature fiction. And yes, I do think that the fiction of 40k is suprisingly good for a mass marketed game product.

My very soul depends on impressing you, Grignard. Are you impressed? Have I saved my soul from the clutches of Hell thanks to the bottomless and uttermost depth of my own understanding of the human conditions? Has my perspicacity, sagacity, opacity, and callipygian prose impressed you?

No offense or nothing, of course.

None of this matters anyhow. I really don't care if the 40k fluff is literature or not. What I was getting at is that I would not want, personally, to see changes to the material that would make it "kid safe" so that parents who might otherwise be dissuaded from buying it will feel ok.

Im only an extemporaneous onlooker of these colloquiums, but am I the only one that deems this expostulation has become more of an obfuscating effluvium of belletristic inanity with each subsequent asseveration?

The only thing I want to change is:

I want to be able to walk up my 9 Penitent Engines behind my 6 Rhinos, having the Rhinos being able to screen them from shooting without dealing with opponents arguing they can "see their tips/arms/shoulders" peeking over the top of the Rhinos...

This whole "you can use modeling to your advantage" thing started by (presumably) Yakface, it really makes me frustrated as someone who loves to make elaborate conversions but also wants to play "fairly"... I don't want to deal with the extra modeling working to my disadvantage OR my advantage, I just want the freedom to make it look cool and still fall into a general size rule (they could easily print something like, oh, "all level 3 vehicles are considered 3in. x 3in. at base and LOS cannot be drawn to level 3 [and below] objects behind them that are eclipsed by the proportions of their base." and vehicles like the Land Raider and the Monolith would be level 4 vehicles, etc...

Sigh... like that's gonna happen

And God said unto Abraham, "Take this mighty bolter, my son, and smite thy enemies from afar. Fear not, Emperor protects..er, I mean, well, youknowwhatImean."
