Poll
How Do you feel about FNP being given to a warboss?
The Rules are clear. A warboss would not gain any benefit by joining the Nobs
The rules are not all that clear but the boss should not gain the benefit since he is an IC
The Boss should gain FNP and the rules are clear
The rules are not clear but the boss should gain FNP
By RAW, the boss should not get it. However I play it as he does.

he may not leave it unless he is the last remaining member of that unit

If he may not leave a unit until he is the last remaining member of that unit, then it is his unit. Perhaps a grammer lesson is in order?

umm....

Your part of a political party

Does that make it "Your club" as in you own it?

Budro, I don't get your point. I see it as I typed it above.

as far as unit goes... under the codex it lists unit size as 1... unique.

then you join to the unit. When joining there are rules for how this happens on page 48... and on page 48 it says his special rules are not confered to any unit he joins unless it says so.

Yes budro, by all means.

Please do explain how the terminology used in a special rule that specifies (as required on pg. 48 of the BRB) who the rule is conferred to when dealing with joined units, supports your position in any way whatsoever that:

1) Pg. 48 says that "wargear" may specify what happens, as opposed to "the rule itself."
2) "his unit" only has one definition.

Instead of running multiple copies of the same debate in parallel post counter arguments in the current thread.

Agreed. Is there a way we can lock the thread but allow the vote still?

However I think the least game-breaking way to play this is to allow wargear-type bonuses (including conferral of special rules) to apply to attached ICs as well.

This isn't just the painboy, it's also the apothecary, SM Chaplains and Captains joined to single squads, and various other items or abilities in various codexes.

For consistency I would therefore agree that Ghazghkull could join a Snikrot kommando unit and then use Ambush.

Where the rules are clear is that ICs count as a separate unit while resolving close combat attacks, so in these cases they will not benefit from things like Dok's Toolz or Chapter Banners, or even the Waaagh! Banner.

This would not work, since you cannot pre-attach the units until they are deployed, seeing as how a warboss cannot deploy during infiltrate, or be declared as "outflanking" prior to deployment, he cannot. He would however get the FNP as it pertains to the unit of which he becomes part of after entering it. I feel the rule is pretty clear, and that most people that think it aren't just dont quite understand the proper parts of deployment/specified area of the rules, or in many cases are just willing to overlook it. The entire concept of mad dok grotsnik is to confer that ability to any unit he goes to, thats why he is so expensive to purchase, he is a terrible fighter and other then the cybork he can give you, that you have to pay even MORE for, he is pointless as the scalpel rule allows him to be kited around the board. 30 of those points are equivilant to the painboy for that very reason imo.
