Mostly because my area has large enough pool of people in it to support a yearly BloodBowl Season, and from what I hear from everyone and what I see it causes a ridiculous amount of butt-soreness. I see these guys that I regularly play 40k against, great people. Win or lose I have a great game against them. But sit these sames guys, together again for bloodbowl, and they turn into stark raving ass masters that I could only want to beat to death with a hammer to save the world further harm. Every year. I hate that fething game, and I've never touched it.

But that's prob. just in my area.

I have heard theat Aeronautica Imperialis is a ridiculously fun game. Everything I have heard about the rules for it has been positive, and while I am sure the models are expensive because they are all forgeworld, everyone of them that I have seen is just gorgeous. the detail is nothing short of amazing. Check out www.forgeworld.co.uk and cruise for it. Stutter-inducing beauty.

That must be just your area, because where I am all the silly crap that happens only encourages hilarious laughter.

Same here, much hilarity whenever my mates and I get together for a game, which isn't that often. It's the only other game I play although I am intrested in Warmachine.

But moneys an issue, I can't really afford the 40k or fantasy armies I have already plus the two BloodBowl teams. Another whole system would be too much for my slender wallet.

I own a small Battlefleet Gothic fleet, a standard-sized Flames of War German army, and three 6,000-point AT-43 armies with that last being quite the anomaly due to the firesales.

For me, it all comes down to how easy it is to get opponents. If it's a decent ruleset, not too expensive to start up, and I have a good collection of varied opponents who will get together for a game without too much hassle, I'll give the game a go.

I've never really liked the gothic/baroque flying castles ethic of 40k. Your tastes may differ. I like the lines of the NSL ships over the overly spiky and skull encrusted BFG line (excepting the tau stuff, which looks quite nice). I like my ships to look more like the LEONOV than Mad Ludwig's shack.

Fair enough!

I know the Flames of War has huge fan bases in the US, NZ, AUS and parts of Europe. It's been picking up steam in the UK for the last year or so.

I've played a whole lot over the years but out of all the TT wargaming systems GW systems have been the only real constant because it has a readily available and easy to find playerbase.

Still I don't play it that much these days as I prefere games like Go, Chess, Majong etc... Especially chess varients that restrict pre-planning and favour fast thinking or that are trippy (like alice or infinity ). Wargames play to slowly for my liking, add in an opposing player who thinks slowly and plays slowly and I end up bored :(

Anyway, current wargames:

40k (competitive group but also spend a lot of time on a house ruled games mastered table)
FoW (undecided on this one, need a new group as the one I'm at is totally anal history buffs :(()
Bloodbowl (but not for much longer, this game should be fast but it ends up slow)
Flintloque (first edition house rules - multi player skirmish, sync'd turns with chess clocks timing, fast, fun, MAYHEM )

That kind of my main problem too. GW games have a large fan base and a local not so local store for me. so i rarely get a game as it is. without starting other games i really want to but i just know there won't be the oppertunity for me to play them as to where i live at this time! so hopefully in the future i can start playing a wider range of games! And not just GW ones!

I have made the decision to move away from GW games, while their specialist games are top notch I just feel the warhammer universe is so stale and under utilised. Every army book that comes out is basically the same, the models are fantastic but the prices not so much etc

You are in antrim arent you so why dont you get the train down to GW Belfast some saturday to get a couple of games in? Or if your still in school well the summer holidays are here so you can pop down any time. Spent the best part of my formative years in GW Lisburn, was fantastic fun.

Also if you enjoy the modeling and painting aspect of the hobby no reason not to start other systems.

Yea that sounds really good but unfortunatly i work saturdays and sundays! so im gona have to wait till summer and il probly take the train down once a week. or more.

i really do enjoy the modelling aspect to which is kind of why if started painting up world war 2 minitures. quite like the look of some of the privateer press stuff.(is that how you spell it?) so im gona see what models i cna get my hands on to experiment with anything you would recommend yourself model wise at the minute?

Other than 40k, I have a full Anima Tactics Church army/group/thing and a small Empire one (even though I've NEVER gotten to play anyone outside of someone I'm teaching with my own figs). I also have a DnD minis Goblin army I've never gotten to play, and I have a an almost ready Warmachine army. Sucks trying to find other games being played.

I have a large Cryx army, and a growing Khador army for Warmachine.

Also, a small mordor orc army that will probably not get much bigger unless interest in LotR jumps at my LGS.

I also playing DnD minis and clix to some extent.

Oh, and I've a small battle tech force.

I plan on picking up the new Warmachines army in September. I'll probably only get the models I like of it however due to the fact that it's extremely hard to find a game around here... Other then that I wish Vor: The Maelstrom would come back around. Oh, and someone needs to re-release Mordheim as well.

I used to play WW2/modern in HO scale back in the mid 80s (using Rapid fire for the WW2, can't recall what it was for the moderns). I miss my roco minitanks line of stuff (HO scale HMMVWs, M1s, M2s, M113s, Scud launchers, M60s, Shermans, they were seriously awesome.).

As to the SH3.0 rumours. It'll probably be farmed out to FFG.

I don't even KNOW anymore.

I'm rebuilding my Dwarf army for Warlord in anticipation for 2nd edition. I like the rules, and living 20 minutes from Reaper HQ doesn't hurt either.

Someone mentioned Hordes of the Things - I actually have an undead army on my painting desk right now (15 mm), and have the makings for Orcs and a Dwarf army too.
