Stalwart Dark Angels Space Marine

So I started with Space Marines because when I was first introduced to the game I was skeptical about how much I'd actually enjoy the game. So I split 2 AoBR with a friend and I found that I loved the painting/model aspect. Then I got hooked on the game play. So I started buying more and more Space Marine stuff. But I got sick of playing what "everyone else" plays. So I thought about what the common races are in my gaming group (MEQ's, Tau) so I decided to pick up about 2000 points of Eldar. Then I discovered Dark Angels, and I'm big on the Space Marine scene again. I'm looking into Nids though, because I want to play an "evil" race. That, and then I can have Terran, Protoss(in my opinion any way) and Zerg

My first 40K army was Orks, because I had an Orc army for WFB. Next, I assembled a huge Eldar army because they gave me an opportunity to have lots of units with different colors, which was a relief from the hordes of Orks. I learned a lot about tactics while using them, because they are so powerful, but so fragile. For 3rd edition, I started playing chaos space marines because I liked the miniatures, and over the last ten years I've collected about 6,000 points of them, but the most recent Chaos Space Marines codex threw an enormous wet blanket on that! I got back into Orks when the AoBR set came out, and also because their codex is not a fething joke like so many others. Maybe, one day I will finish painting them.

I went with guard at first becuase they were the most...(sniff)...human.
(Reference to Funeral in Star Trek, it's the only scene I know, I swear)

But now I'm with Witch hunters becuase the inquisitors are kind of like badass detectives with orbital bombardment. Then I'm with the SoB 's becuase I get to sing 'Hey, Sister flow, Sister sow, Sister go!' with an excuse.

I don't know, mabye it's the pyromaniac in me.

Me? Because I wanted to play the good guys, and in 40k, that's chaos.

What? I'm not the faction that covers their tanks in skulls like it's armor, worships a tryannical corpse, kills trillions of innocent civilians, and has space marine chapters with names like "Flesh Tearers" "Blood Drinkers" and "Dark Brotherhood"

Instead, we have names like "Emperor's Children, Angels Of Ecstacy, The Flawless Host, Etc. Etc."
.....
Oh who am I kidding? DEATH TO THE CORPSE EMPEROR AND HIS LEGION OF CRIPPLED DOGS! WE WILL REND THEIR FLESH FROM THEIR BONES AND GNAW UPON THEM FOR THE GLORY OF THE PRINCE OF EXCESS!

I have Space Marines. I got my first two tac squads and land speeder from the old starter set that had SM and Dark Eldar from a friend who purchased it. This was back in '03. I continued with them because a) it was easier to build on, and b) they seemed pretty cool.
About 3 months ago I realized they were actually pretty boring (to me at least) and their focus on special characters has driven me away. Away to the glorious Imperial Guard. Sure they have Creed etc, but you can run a solid force without (what I feel to be) massive point sinks in characters. The orders system has introduced a new tactical layer I enjoy, and I can 'relate' to them more in the fluff I write.

Where ever the Emperor needs his eyes

Well I started with the Daemonhunters because I liked the idea of having Grey Knights and Imperial Guard, but that didn't last long because all I had was Grey Knights and I got bored of them and sold them off.

Then I went to Space Wolves, also they were the First Army I wanted but was talked out of, because well they're Space Wolves what reason do you need, but no where could the Dex be found not on the Website cause they were sold out, and not in the store cause they didn't care.

So then I switched to 4th ED Marines, who I loved, what with their chapter traits all. Ah to have two plasma guns in an infiltrated Tac squad.

I picked up the Chaos dex for fun somewhere in there, as well as some boxes to use the bits to represent a Crusade fleet that started salvaging from the field of battle.

Then 5th Ed Marines came out and I watched my Chapter become useless because none of my squads could be used, and I couldn't play the way I used to. After a couple games I filed for divorce and left it for Chaos.

Which brings me to my current mistress, Chaos which I am trying to turn my old SM models into Chaos Marines and well so far I haven't been working on that much.

In the future there will be Space Wolves, the ones I wanted from the beginning. Of course Chaos will have to share.

I originaly started with Space Marines. Something about the armour, the loyalty, the wepons, everything that makes a marine a marine. Specificly, the TACTICAL SQUADS! I like the idea of a squad that could talk on huge armys and win. I also strted in 4th ed, and I only had a commander, a razorback, and two tac squads. I could hold an objective into tomorrow. I now have some orks lying around, partly because I got mad at my marines, partly cuse my freind likes em and own a 40k army, and partly becuase i bought AoBR. But I am a stalewart marine player, and they are what got me into 40k.

Deathwing. I can field Terminators at troops... You just can't top that. Maybe Black Templars, because they can have two heavy weapons in a Term squad, but Deathwing guys are more versatile. Plus they've got good fluff. And they're not 'nilla. And they've got good bitz and converting materials, which is nice because I hate painting.

TheCyben: Seriously though, I'm not advocating GW to model any Boosh characters. If they have to pick one, it would have to be Tony Harrisson... but that would be an outrage.

The Legend of Food Store Hero....

Well, while I was in high school some buddies of mine had been telling me about the game to try and get me involved. My answer "Well gee guys, what should *I* play?" They proceeded to push me in the direction of Chaos Space marines, telling me some of the background and how the Imperium was all religious culty and Chaos was all free spirit Rebel Yell Byah! stuff. I figured what the hell. My first box was a box of Khorne Berzerkers I ended up using in an Undivided Army. That Undivided Army later turned into the a legion of the Chaos Night Lords. I could use my Berzerkers in it however, so I decided to also make a Khornite Army, small points, but playable.

Well, after some time of playing and reading up on the fluff I realized my buddies answer to my fluff question was -slightly- skewed. I started to like the Imperial Fluff, and one Army had caught my eye from the beginning. Green's my favorite color and I thought the robed models were wicked sweet pissah. As such, I started my Dark Angels, but with a focus on Terminators (around this time I read the Deathwing novel with Two-Heads-Talking and the boys of the Deathwing vs. the Genestealers). I made a Deathwing Army and decided to get a couple boxes of space marines to have a space marine army on the side.

Well, with feeling spoon-fed by a 3+ armor save and goodies, I decided to take on a slightly grittier approach. Something different, more difficult, but I definitely wanted something shooty. Thus, the Imperial Guard came about. Now at that time, the Catachans were the only plastic box I could get. I liked'em, but I didn't want a full army of forest Schwarzeneggers so I came up with a small plan. My love for the cityfight rules sparked me to paint each of my guards in different colors with no real uniform to them. As such, they became more of a rag-tag militia group... with tanks. By the time I felt comfortable with them, two new armies were just coming out: Tau and Necrons.

I wanted to try out a new Army yet again, but didn't want to spend tooth and nail. Thought maybe I should return to my darker roots a bit... methodical, calculating, shooty... but durable. Tau looked need, but Necrons were the way for me. With a few boxes of plastics, some elites blisters, and my HQ.... oh and Monolith.... I was ready.

During this time I flip-flopped a lot between my Guard, necrons, and Dark Angels... the Dark Angels being the for-front of my most favored Armies. I just really loved the fluff behind them.

Then, I took a break.... a few years long break...

Now, I dug out my old armies when a few of my other friends mentioned interest. I updated my Dark Angels a bit and fully finished them. Necrons were easy as no new codex had come out.. and I'm adding a few new touches to my Guard. Sadly, my Chaos has gone a bit to the way-side, but there's always a possibility with them again. As of right now, however, it's mainly Dark Angels and Guard.

Well I was drawn in by the models. The Space Marines and Orks took me by storm out of the Rogue Trader book followed closley by the IG and Eldar of times past. The rules have always been just an after thought for me when picking an army. Now I have loads of minitures that I just put together and try to paint then use what I have to build a useable force out of. So I have taken to Power armor (SM and CSM) the Orks and the Eldar and Tau and IG. Dark Eldar were an interest but soon were dropped for lack of any real good minis. Converted what I have into Eldar. Well that is my bit.

I really should be painting right now.

Orks, i always liked the orcs in whatever game they are in. theyre always brutal, strong, bloodlustful, tough as nails, and can flex off some of the hardest hitting crap. each individual ork model can be made differently from all of the other boys too. you can make each guy have their own personality. unlike other armies where theyre just in the same suits of armor, orks can be wide and diverse. theyre a good army for someone with a creative mind.
