You may not like it but Linkdead is right, how many times have you resold regular still in production GW minis and gotten what you paid back?

I have always made a profit when selling my armies...I have painted armies for GW stores and I sold many individual models for 2x-6x the blister cost.....One of my buyers even won bronze at a GW gamesday.....I never got credit :(

Anyway, the original point of my post has gone way off track. Many people are on one mind set I see, and are stuck in it.....

*SIGH*

Oh well....

Conformitty of the masses....

LOL

Try going back and reading this thread and open your head. These people all have given you plenty of thoughts and answered the topic at hand.

It isn't something you can put down to "This army" costs this much, "That army" costs that much.

Price is a relative term. And "Resale Value" is vague.

It will cost.... what people will pay for it.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I determine the value the same way as always: by casting the intestines of a sheep upon the ground and reading the entrails.

I value my army at what I paid for it +$ 20/h labor +current MSRP of painting supplies.
Then I pay an annual premium on it for home owner's insurance.

Resale value is market subjective.

I would pay much less then retail for any painted figs. It just means more work for me to strip them.

There is a difference between painting an army and then selling on one hand, and on the other taking commissions to paint armies at a set rate card.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

There is no hard and fast rule to apply.

You've got to consider.

Popularity of army race

Effectivness of your choices.

Uniqueness (conversions etc)

Paint job quality

PLUS

The customers perspective of all these things.

New in box is the only thing Id ever buy off ebay.

It seems alot of people have the notion that they paid x for said model it's still worth x. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Your time isn't a factor unless you are running a business. This is a hobby I enjoy the modeling and the painting even though i am not that good at it and i assume you do too. I just sold about $3500+ worth of models for $800ish. I was happy to get that why? because it's time to move on. They did their job now it's time for new armies.
