Gotta say somewhat. It isn't critical like building the models and converting them. I love that, but since I have the models and I'm fairly good at the game it might as well be for something.

BT uses the Codex Astartes as toilet paper. They’re an Imp Fist successor, recruit from multiple planets, and are known to be the largest Chapter in the galaxy. They’re on a constant Crusade, keeping it real for the Emperor and not bumming around like the other guys. They hate psykers and can’t ally with them. They’re basically an entire chapter of Chaplains. CC lunatics. What every Space Marine should aspire to be, if not trapped in a Matt Ward nightmare.

I go to them sometimes at my FLGS, mostly the team tournaments, but I don't care at the outcomes that much.

I walk into a game store on a 40k night...I might get 1 or 2 games. Alot of times my opponents dont know what there doing, have proxied or unpainted armies, and its generally un enjoyable.
I go to a tournament. I get 5-7 games in....against quality knowledgeable players...against painted wysiwyg armies.
Honestly I find the people who arnt competitive a little weird. They focus to much on the hobby itself and are usually basement dweller and weird.
People who go to tournaments are usually well kept, are competant, and are generally higher caliber people.

I feel bad for overly competitive people in anything that isn't physical or work related.
C'mon guys its just a game. People boasting about their 40k prowess and being WAAC TFGers are no better than nerds bragging about how great they are at video games.
That said, I don't understand people who put forth minimal tactical in strategic effort while playing and with their army builds.

But as a counter to that Amaya if you applied your logic to a chess tournament (Which I also play and do quite well in) it makes little to no sense. Alot of work goes into being viewed as a TFG

That makes sense for chess, but the whole point of chess imo, is to win or at least constantly improve at it.
There's a lot more to 40k, it's not nearly as balanced as chess.

Its always nice to play against better players and see if i could win. But then again I don't play only to win so its a coin flip, and depends on mood. I don't like the tournaments when every one brings cheese and i am there just to catch three games at my FLGS
