My group plays a lot of D&D3.5, which I think is worn as thin as it can be, and I can't seem to nudge them into Fourth (which I love, admittedly only having DMed) or any other system. I myself have some experience with AD&D (ugh), WoD (didn't care for it at all), CoC (couldn't stay sane--or alive--long enough), Burning Wheel (so complicated!), it's little brother Mouse Guard (very interesting but too light on the mechanics for a group like mine), and Dark Heresy (I have an online DH group separate from my IRL group, the members of which don't care for 40k or WHFB). So I turn to Dakka. What systems have you guys loved?
Detailed answers about mechanics (rather than nostalgic paeans) appreciated, especially where such discussion is relative to 3.5 or, to a lesser extent, the other systems mentioned above.
THANK YOU! Will people just play fourth already? Stop playing 3.5 with your stupid worn out books and crappy skills! I like prestige classes, but that's about it!

been there...done that...hated it along with everyone else in my group. my pathfinder book is new and crisp and has good skills...and none of the monotony of 4e.

Vampire the Masquerade, great lore, excellent game system, only need 1 type of dice (D10), set in a world you can very easily grasp (it's our world, just a bit darker).
An excellent game, no idea why white wolf threw a fit, actually had the apocalypse in the fluff and scrapped it.
Then they released that god-awful Vampire: Requiem, rehashing certain names from the previous game, flimsy lore and it generally just stank.

Favorite rule systems:
D&D 4e: Simple rules that aren't restrictive to roleplaying. eay to get into and easy to play
AD&D: The game I started with. I love and hate this game. Rather simplistic but is easily hell on earth at the same time.
oWoD LARP systems: Very simplistic on the mechanics with only a few hiccups.
nWoD: The toolbox setting is great; if you don't want to have something in the game, you get rid of it. You don't have to include the possibility of some super powerful being coming in and causing trouble, unless you want to.
Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader: I've yet to really get a chance to play either but I love the systems themselves.

I played a lot of the GDW Traveller back years ago -- I am tempted by the new version but I know it will just take up space and never get played.

Easy one. Earthdawn. A nice flexible charactr system that didn't tie you down and really allowed you to develop however you wanted. You didn't have to worry about excessive gold as magic items cost experience to advance, just like skills (talents). Plus a cool world and you got to play with all your dice.

D&D 3.0/3.5
D&D 4e
Mordheim (if it counts, can get pretty neat RP between the Warbands leader and among the henchmen, and it gets really fun when the "GM" plays the enemy warband and the different players get to play as one of the guys in the warband)
Played some Call of Cathulu
I want to play Inquisitor but no one in my Gamestore is interested.
