Sweet! I'm up for ice cream if someone else is buying too!

Although I am beginning to not care anymore, if we pass this we're all screwed, if we don't we're all screwed. We want to take care of everyone at the expense of those that can afford it and then demand that everyone be self sufficient. The world sucks and anything the government or private institution does will never be enough.
I saw a report blaming the costs of current healthcare on hospitals for taking people who can't afford it. Well, a doctor's job is to care for the sick and hospitals can recover from it, but I think that the government should work on removing the amount of people that can't afford it. For illegals that's an easy one(deportation) for others it gets difficult. I say that we deport all illegals and see what that does for healthcare, we should also get rid of that anti-trust law exemption for insurance industries, we don't need it.
So you're saying wages for the working poor would go up? Yea that would just suck wouldn't it.
Deporting illegals is great in theory, and I certainly agree that any public healthcare be policed for abuse, it is not as simple as it sounds. For instance, how much are immigrants ( some illegal, some otherwise) contributing to the economy? I bet if they all went away tomorrow, there would be quite a few jobs needing done that no one wants to do.

Incidentally, its really unbecoming to bring up Hitler in a conversation or debate.
Why? You seem to be quite a sensitive soul.... Seriously, lighten up - this is just a lively debate. No-one is flaming each other (although thanks for trying to attract the attentions of the MODs to me earlier, for a totally innocuous statement...).
My point stands. If everyone is equally deserving of respect and common courtesy, what ABOUT Hitler? Or Bin Laden? Or Stalin? Ceaucescu?

There's a big goddamn difference between people you're discussing a topic with and the great killers of history. if you don't get that you shouldn't be posting, well anywhere, much less here.

Where did I try to attract the attention of the mods? I haven't reported any post here. Why should I? As far as Hitler, Stalin, etc, you can't compare people's view of historical figures to how I should treat people today. See below.

I never said there was no difference Fraz. Read my post again. What I was saying was that it doesn't make sense to use historical figures to illustrate how you should treat people today, because when you look at, say, Adolf Hitler and Stalin, you have the advantage of hindsight.

That's my entire point. Not all people's opinions are equally deserving of respect, simply because the term 'all people' encompasses mass murders, paedophiles and rapists.
I wasn't comparing people posting here to Hitler - If you can't see THAT, then maybe YOU shouldn't be a moderator.
Where did I try to attract the attention of the mods?
You said words to the effect of: 'I'm not sure statements like this belong on the forum' - that sounds like like a half-hearted attempt to attract negative attention to what I posted, in my opinion. But if you say you didn't....whatever, I wasn't losing sleep over it.

No problems, brother! I can take it on the chin if I say something daft, no bother - but if someone thinks I did, when actually I didn't I get a bit grumpy. Didn't mean to bite your head off - no harm, no foul as you lot say!
