You forgot Jeb that on Frazz's wedding day SWMBO got his nuts wrapped in paper with a pretty pink bow given to her by Frazz himself.

LOL.

You would be surprised. War Studies is basically a History degree, only with a few more job field options, specifically the Weapons industry, the military, international relations work, and Intelligence work. So I get all the benefits of a regular history degree, only I get to skip the bits I find boring (what Victorian ladies fashion was, etc), and I have a few more career fields open to me.

Trust me, if it was like Film Studies, or Media Studies, I wouldn't be doing it. I'd have stuck with a plain 'ol History degree.

I suspect I'll get blasted for this but if you chose to get a degree in a subject that's not useful don't expect to get anywhere with it.

I think it is a big mistake to assume the only value of an education is in the job market. Knowledge is its own reward, and all that.

If someone decides they'd rather know all about medieval folklore than something that will get them a job, more power to them. They should accept to themselves, however, that it will cost them in the job market.

Thankyou very much your story, Da Boss. I offer my sympathies and am happy you've come out the other side.

I won't make $100k per year with an AA in accounting (Ha, probably not even a BS) but I know I'll make enough to live a comfortable, FAIRLY stress free life.

Your introduction to the world of public accounting will be brutal, me thinks.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I don't know. I love crunching numbers and while I don't mathhammer my way through my 40k life I like building lists just for the excuse to have to crunch numbers. If I'm lazy I'll do all math on calculator; if I'm feeling not too lazy I'll do it in my head.

I'm sure depending on where I get employed once I have my degree I'll find it stressful at first but I think most of that will come down to just a new environment, trying to impress people and trying to get along with new co-workers.

Guess we'll see what happens in 2 years.

Don't forget queso, Tex Mex, chicken fried steak, the constant desire to go "clubbing" with a stick with a nail in it, and a love of the Tennesee portion of the Smokey Mountains.
