The new look elites fit with the BA fluff to, Blood Angels have a much longer life span then a codex SM. (Dante is like 1100). They stated in the old codex that the blood angels have the most ornate and intricate looking armour and weapons due to the practice they get while living that long.

I'm actually quite liking Seth. Cool model IMO. Some of the Sanguinary Guard poses look a bit naff too me. And is it really possible to carry a standard with a jump pack?

The Sanguine dudes. Apparently all incarnations.

Why the feth does your power armor have NIPPLES on it?

That it easily top three worst modeling jobs I have seen. The only thing truly worse is that A) Someone thought it would be a good idea and B) Someone was willing to sculpt them.

Already been covered here:
Redemption wrote:
dietrich wrote:But, nipples on the armor for Sanguinary Guard and Astrorath and Sanguinor? Really?

The Greek/Roman armour the Blood Angels are based on actually used to have these too, so it is historically accurate:

http://gaelicdreams.tripod.com/ca28fc00.png
http://www.weaponsemporium.com/WE-Greek%20Armour%206071R.jpg

Heck, there were even variants that had them pierced!

In addition to what Redemption said:

"The Blood Angels fine aesthetic taste and appreciation of artistic and beautiful things is well known..." - Codex: Angels of Death (2nd Edition)

"Physically the Blood Angels are among the longest lived of all the Space Marine Chapters." "These vastly extended lifespans allow the Blood Angels to perfect their techniques in art as well as in war. They have centuries in which to perfect the disciplines to which they turn their minds. This accounts for the fact that the Blood Angels' armour and banners are among the most ornate ever produced." - Codex: Blood Angels (4th Edition)

"Don't have much use for a poop droid." - Iorek
"Elusive has a bloodhound like capacity for finding hugely ugly minis." - tortoise

One thing I find funny is that the Flesh Tearers shoulderpads are actually CHEAPER than the ones made by Chapterhouse

All the sculpts are brilliant, but Astorath the Grim doesn't look blood angels to me, he looks khorne, all you have to do is remove the wings, remove the insignia and put a khorne seal to cover up the filing and you've got the perfect beserker champion going in for a 'finish him' kill

Wow. I can see why some people don't like them.

However, I really, really do. Partly because in the 40k universe I suspend my disbelief. And partly because these kits are very, very, very lovely. Especially some of the faceplate helms. And I reckon we will see some lovely conversions come from this.

I think the Death Company sprue is intended to be the "upgrade" sprue. You don't have to use them as DC and if you don't you have a TON of bits to spread around the rest of your army.

Really? Every time I look at that model I keep thinking that he's actually a resurrected Warren (the guy who was flayed alive by Willow Rosenberg at the end of Season 6) out for blood.

Under the couch

The lack of Jump Pack-strap equipped torsos for the DC is a little disappointing. Easily fixed by combining them with a regular assault squad and using the extra parts on regular troopers, though.

The muscled cuirass was used by both the Romans and the Greeks in ancient times, coupled with the 'angelic' masks, the aesthetic is appropriate I think.

I'm loving all of these new models. I'll have to go back to the rumours thread though, because I don't understand the DC with bolters.

I think that's kind of the point as he represents the darker aspects of the Blood Angels with Sanguinor represent the more positive ones?

Well, I can't say I'd field them that way either, but don't they now have the 'relentless' USR, making them somewhat understandable?

OMFG! Must buy a codex and a bunch of characters . . . I'm sure I can find uses for them in my other marine armies =D

Plus a Flamestorm Cannon on a predator . . . Correct me if I'm wrong . . . But that's plain awesome, wrapped up in the fires of SWEEEEETTT!!!

And now less of the over-excited hobbyist, and more sense . . . Those DC and the guard also look awesome. I'm a big fan of the wings on the back (Seraphim for example), it definetly fits in with the angelic/mythological theme of the BA and successors . . . Personally I would go with a successor chapter, if only to buck the trend etc. =]

I like the Sanguinary Guard, but I was gonna use 'em for Dark Angels Assault Marines, if I was ever gonna use 'em at all.

I absolutely detest Astorath though. Stupid model, and is in my hall of shame.

All of the sculpts are great not a bad one in the whole lot of them. But for some reason the wings on the guard just look off. I don;t know why they just do. Otherwise it's all great.

Very over the top but also really cool. I'll definitely pick up the sang guards box just for the bitz. Looks like my Salmanders will get a muscle suit veteran squad in the future.
