Isnt DS9 way over in another part of the galaxy though, well away from anyplace any normal person would ever want to go?

DS9 is on the edge of Federation space, but they're probably still deep in the Alpha Quadrant. They're nearby Bajor and Cardassia so they're not terribly far.

And yes, the Dominion got their kicked by the Federation. But I think it's because they later started fighting the Cardassians as well. I haven't gotten that far into the DS9 series yet (watched it once before years ago, watching it again now. Just finished season 3).

Well, I'd just like to answer a few things really quick. ;l
1) Yeah, Q's interaction with the Imperials will be coming soon....I have hopes for it. =Grins=
2) Currently at least, I have no plans for other 40k races to enter this crossover. My idea for that is right now they all live too far away to be a problem. That and the Emperor is keeping a close eye on the Warp to make sure no Ork space hulks drift to Terra. I figure now when Chaos is a bit weaker he would be able to do that easily.

Ah, I see. Like I said, the fluff about this time period is so thin that there is no reason the Eldar, etc can't exist somewhere in an unknown corner of the galaxy. The full rise of the Eldar could still be 10,000 years in the future!
