Internet lists are what they are. They generally do a descent job against what they're supposed to deal with....most of the time. Two main things tend to scupper them locally though. First, the fact that the 'general internet metagame' may not be reflected in your store.

For example, the idea that Guard and Blood Angels are what you see most these days. It's just not reflected at my FLGS. Yes, it's Marine heavy, but that's it. Most numerous tend to be Chaos Space Marines followed by standard Space Marines. In terms of the special chapters, Dark Angels are as numerous as the other ones. For Guard, it's a smattering of stuff, but I've yet to see a Leafblower. The rest of the group is made up of oddities like myself (the Ork player) and a couple of chaps who play Eldar and Dark Eldar.

Now, I will say one quick thing in defense of the various internet lists. For better or for worse, these lists do provide diverse opinions from a pretty large number of folks. I have definitely used internet lists for ideas on how to use and deploy with new units or units I've not used or seen before. The results have varied and I generally take them with a grain of salt, but it's been handy here and there.
