Eye of Terror... I think

From how I understand it the Hive Mind is unaffected by a individual tyranid alive or dead. The hive mind is a constant inhabiting every living tyranid and recycling every dead one to make more live ones. Its not empowered by more nids, not decreased by less, just a constant hunger...

The Hive Mind is such a vast "creature" that the loss of individual Tyranids, even Tyrants etc, is unlikely to have any important effect on it. Again, I'd compare the Tyranid Hive Mind/Tyranid Race relationship to the concept of 'you'/'your body'. If a few cells in your left hand are killed off, technically you've lost something of yourself, but in practical terms you are pretty much unchanged because of your scale. Further, you're making new cells, eating and so forth.

This of course has a blank spot in it when we remember that we don't really know what happens to the mind of a Tyranid when it dies. We do know that Tyrants (and presumably everything further up the scale, so Dominatrixes, Norn Queens etc) are able to exist within the Synaptic web and can be placed into a new body. That nothing like this is mentioned for lesser creatures (and the Tyrant entry implies that this is "special") does suggest that upon death the average Termagant's mind is simply lost, it dies along with the body. We don't have enough information toknow for sure though.

QFT! A little OT, but it's like trying to imagine what a 5th dimension would "look" like to us, in our reality... We, as humans, just don't have the mental capacity to comprehend it!
Unless your in a transport, the ultimate psychic protection in the galaxy!! Which GWs recent Bug FAQ states, "SitW does not effect units in transports".......

Sorry but I feel forced to refute you here, we do not lack the mental capacity to see the other 7 dimensions but we are simply too large to notice them. A way to describe this is a power line. From a distance it looks flat and two dimensional. From an ants perspective they can explore all the dimensions as they are much smaller than us.
Thats what string theory and quantum theory say anyway

Much the same, the Hive Mind is all the souls of the dead Tyranids amalgamated into one collective.

Nope, they ain't eldar...

The hive mind could perhaps have absorbed all the experiences of now dead tyranid organisms. But tyranids aren't really persona, so no persona of dead tyranids to make the hive mind.
