How could the German Imperial Navy blockade Great Britain?
We blockaded them for 5 years!

u-boats. You can learn more about them here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-boat?wasRedirected=true

US policy was to dismantle the BE because we were the only trading competitor.

US policy was to permit the British empire to fall apart under it's own weight. The fact that both states are Anglo Saxon did not create any special obligations on the part of the US to help Great Britain maintain it's racist, exploitive overseas empire in the face of overwhelming pressure for decolonization within the empire.

Post WW2 US funded Britains other trading competitors (Germany, France, Italy) with cheap intrest free loans while forcing lend/lease interest payments on Britain. This was successful in keeping Britain in financial trouble throughout the period.

Yes. Weapons have to be paid for. With interest. The US provided Great Britain with arms that it could not manufacture for itself and that it could not get on more favorable terms elsewhere, which, alongside direct American intervention in both world wars were almost certainly decisive in maintaining the independence of Great Britain itself. Yet you complain.

When you make us think about this it makes us wonder why the hell we keep supporting you.

because British politicians hope to influence US foreign policy through the 'special relationship?' if you don't like it, vote. It's the US or the EU - Great Britain isnt strong enough to pursue an independent foreign policy and British politicians know it.

If we were so scientifically and technically burnt out how come so many of the great post war inventions have been British?
OK we have'nt had the resources to finance them and US companies buy the patents cheap but this is again down to US financial pressure.

I don't think the British were scientifically and technologically burnt out. I just think US involvement in both world wars was pivotal to Allied victory in both cases.

I agree debts need to be repaid, the point I was making was that you bailed out and supported our previous enemies and the French but screwed us.
Please also remember the technology we freely gave to you. Jet engines, Radar, aerodynamics all freely given how much was that worth?
Surely if Germany, Italy and France deserved your help then your ally deserved some support.
Look what De Gaulle did to you as soon as the Marshall plan ran out he kicked you out of France.
The French have never been a loyal ally to you, remember them giving the Serb's info on your F117 flights in Bosnia.
That caused you to lose a stealth fighter and crew.
Other than the traitor Wilson refusing Johnston's request for a battalion of troops in 1966 we have always supported the USA.
Pretty stupid of us.

We did pay for the weapons, with interest.

We finished paying a few years ago.

Rationing lasted in the UK until 1954.
