If it's at a home, beer during the game, pizza between.
If it's at a tourney, pop during the game, coffee in the morning BEFORE the games begin, and no food until after gaming is done for the day.

Cheetos, doritos, and pretzeld mixed in a bowl with ranch, mustard, and balsamic vinegrette mixed to dip it in. No really, I'm serious. It's the best chip dip ever.

I'll have to give it a try. What proportions?

My game sessions are fueled by St. Louis style pizza and Diet Mountain Dew. I've tryed hot wings but they are way to messy to have around the gaming table.
Perhaps a cheese platter would be nice?

With the chips it doesn't really matter, but for the dip: A lot of ranch, quite a bit of mustard (Around half as much mustard as ranch, maybe a bit less), and around a spoonful of vinegrette, more if you like things really vinegary.

For reals. When I play with my nephew, not only must he wash his hands before we play, he can't put any food items or drinks on the table, and can't be eating anything oily or sticky.
Usually we prep foods that are appropriate for 40K - i.e. jelly beans OK, chocolate not, cheese squares or melon that is picked up with a toothpick OK, doritos not.
To be frank, though, the rule about "no drinks on the table" is aimed more at me then him. I'm a terrific klutz and always knocking stuff over. When I built my computer station in the bedroom, I situated my desktop to be under the desk and far on the left, as I'm right handed - that way when I knock drinks over, the worst it can get is my mouse, which is relatively well sealed anyway.

Yeah I think at the extreme end (and possibly for Christmas), I would go for an expensive single Malt Whiskey and a Cheese board with Crackers...
Ah, Brie, Stilton, some strong cheddar, some smoked cheese, maybe some Cranberry Wensleydale and maybe something soft like a goats cheese, oh and those really enxpensive Cracked Black pepper crackers you can get from Waitrose.. Awesome.

Once though, at a local GW, I saw a kid with peperoni slices. No pizza, no sandwich, just peperoni slices.
is it weird that i do that?
Absolutely not! Odd as it seems (to me, at least) the value of a pepperoni is in what it's on top of. I can't eat pepperoni on a sandwich (and only uncommonly on pizzas) but I'll gladly open a bag and start snacking on them plain.

Back in the day, when my club was hosted out of my house, gaming day was always accompanied with liberal use of the grill.
Now a days, since I mostly play at a FLGS it's Subway or McDonalds. Occasionally Papa Johns.

This, although I think Cheetos dust would actually be better than grease because the dust is at least dry. I can't imagine how I'd get something really greasy like pizza drippings off my figures without ruining the paint.
Back when I used to play regularly we sometimes had colas but that was about it.

I usually have a good dose of caffeine in the morning, along with a solid, yet convenient, breakfast. 99% of the time I play, it happens soon after getting up - especially for tournaments, which usually begin early in the morning. I find that this sort of light meal helps me to feel better, and tolerate whatever stresses and excitement may come.
For dinners or lunches, I usually have a meal with protein and greens, along with a soft drink of some kind. I don't tend to eat while playing, as it is usually very distracting. Of course, I very rarely play at home, so I know that this is not the case for a lot of people.

To drink I give my opponents a can of whop-ass, and the bitter tears of defeat. For food I normally let them eat crow, and a slice of humble pie.
In return they bring over sour grapes, cheese, and a lot of whine.

We only seem to drink tea (Milk no suagr ) and water whilst playing, and usually break at half-time to walk down to subway (Need some fresh air after all ). Occaisionally crisps (Chips to you across the pond), but never anything greasy like pizza etc.

We have a general rule amoungst my circle of friend- NO food whilst playing, but drinks are Ok as long as they stay off the games table, have you ever seen a guardsman trying to swim in split coffee..... its not pretty.
Weekday games consist of:-
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee and more Coffee pizza followed by heartburn and the inability to sleep.
Weekends are much better, coffe/soft drinks if you have to drive, or BEER, lots of if inclined, breaks/meals that depends on the hosts wife/partner, some cook (or burn whatever in my wife case) or its majority vote takeout. Followed by more BEER.
I just love weekend game, Scr*w the result, fun all around
